CURT 11479 has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
CURT 11479 is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 / 45501. A Euro mount option is also available: #45571 (1-7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
You will need: ratchet, 3/4" socket, 15/16" socket, 10" extension, die grinder with carbide bit, torque wrench, and safety glasses. A vehicle tow loop/tie-down must also be present.

Yes. Using a die grinder with a carbide bit, you must enlarge the access hole to allow the carriage bolts and spacers to fit through. This is a required modification.
Fishwire is a flexible wire used to guide the 1/2" bolts and spacers into the frame rail during installation. Two pieces of 1/2" fishwire are included. After enlarging the access hole, you fishwire the 1/2" bolts and spacers into the frame rail as shown in the installation diagram before raising the hitch into position.
1. Using a die grinder with carbide bit, enlarge the access hole to allow carriage bolts and spacers to fit through. 2. Fishwire the 1/2" bolts and spacers into the frame rail. 3. Raise the hitch into position with the tow loop above the hitch and secure to vehicle with carriage bolts, spacers and flange nuts. 4. Torque all fasteners to specification.
Torque all 5/8" fasteners to 210 lb-ft. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
CURT 11479 includes: 2× 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts 1-1/4" (part 10-10278), 2× 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062), 2× .250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP6), 2× 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE), 1× 5/8-11 UNC carriage bolt 2" (part 10-10344), 1× 5/8-11 UNC serrated flange nut (part 20-00105), and 1× .250" spacer (part CM-11479-SP).
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this product must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
