This is a weight-carrying hitch with a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
You will need: a ratchet, 3/4" socket, 3/4" boxed end wrench, torque wrench, and a pry bar. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the installation and reduce the time required.

Only if your vehicle has dual exhaust. For vehicles with dual exhaust, you must lower the exhaust by removing the four rear-most rubber isolators before installation. Wire may be used to hold the exhaust to prevent damage if lowered too far. Refer to the rubber isolator removal diagram in the installation instructions.
Fishwire is used to thread a 1/2" carriage bolt and CM-SP12 spacer into position through the access hole in each frame rail. The fishwire is then threaded through the appropriate mounting holes to raise the hitch into position. Leave fishwires attached to the hardware to prevent loss in the frame. Refer to the fishwire technique diagram in the installation instructions for detailed guidance.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
The hitch includes: 2 hex head cap screws (HHCS) 1/2-13 UNC 4-1/2" grade 8 (part 10-10413), 2 round hole spacers 0.188 x 1.50 x 3.00" (CM-SP34), 2 carriage bolts 1/2-13 UNC 1-3/4" grade 8 (part 10-10272), 2 square hole spacers 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.00" (CM-SP12), 4 serrated flange nuts 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 (part 20-00062), and 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire.
The manual states this hitch is designed for use with ballmount #45522. CURT also offers euro mount options #45591 (1 7/8" ball) and #45592 (2" ball) as alternatives. Consult CURT directly at 877.287.8634 or www.curtmfg.com for compatibility with other ball mounts.
