However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Cadillac CTS (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Cadillac CTS sedan (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, the Curt 56207 is designed for Cadillac CTS Sedan and CTS-V Sedan models. The harness connects to the vehicle's taillight wiring connectors located behind the taillights in the trunk (positions P3 and P4). Verify your vehicle model matches before purchasing.
The harness has two circuit ratings: signal circuits are limited to 3.0 amps per side, and tail/running circuits are limited to 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Do not use a larger fuse, as exceeding this specification can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a T-45 Torx bit (or T-45 Torx wrench) and a panel trim removal tool. The T-45 is used to remove the two Torx screws from the cargo-tie downs on the rear scuff panel.
Yes. Step 2 of the installation requires you to open the trunk, locate the vehicle's battery, and disconnect the negative battery terminal before proceeding with any other installation steps.
The vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors are located in the trunk behind the taillights. On the driver's side, they are behind the driver side taillight housing (position P3). On the passenger side, they are behind the passenger side taillight housing (position P4). You will need to remove the trunk floor coverings and rear scuff panel to access them.
On the driver's side, pull back the felt trunk liner to locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the custom wiring end with the green wire.
Drilling may be required for the ground wire installation. You must locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable existing point is available, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
If an existing screw with nut is not available in the vehicle frame near the connector, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided ground wire screw. The area should be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Mount the black converter box in a flat, clean surface that is out of the path of spray and debris from the rear wheels and road. Adhere it using the provided double-sided tape. Failure to mount the box in a protected area can cause loss of warranty, product failure, overheating and potential fire.
Route the 4-flat wire to the center of the vehicle. Secure the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Secure any loose wires with the cable ties provided. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
First, remove all trunk floor coverings. Locate the two cargo-tie down fasteners on the rear scuff panel and use a T-45 Torx wrench to remove the two Torx screws. Remove the two plastic push fasteners securing the trunk liner in place. Then remove the rear scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up.
All installation steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly. Once installed, test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. This confirms the harness is working correctly before use.
The harness uses the following wire colors: yellow wire (driver side taillight connection), green wire (passenger side taillight connection), black power wire (from vehicle battery), and white ground wire (for grounding to vehicle frame).
The kit includes the custom wiring harness with yellow and green wire ends, a black converter box, a white ground wire with ring terminal and provided screw, a black power wire, cable ties, a 4-flat dust cover, and double-sided tape for mounting the converter box.
