However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Subaru Impreza (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Subaru Impreza, Subaru BRZ and Scion FRS (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, CURT hitch 11466 is designed for 2017-Present Subaru Impreza Sedan models. Verify your vehicle matches this year range and body style before purchasing.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight carrying hitch. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch is designed for use with ballmount #45521. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
Required tools are: 3/4" socket, 10mm socket, ratchet, torque wrench, die grinder, aviator shears, and safety glasses. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce installation time.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly before beginning and notes that proper tools will greatly improve installation quality.
The manual does not specify whether battery disconnection is required. Contact CURT Technical Support at 877-287-8634 for clarification on this step.
The first step is to lower the exhaust by removing 3 rubber isolators. See the rubber isolator removal diagram in the manual. If needed to access outside hangers, remove the plastic underbody panel by removing 7 plastic fasteners. Support the exhaust as required during this process.
Remove the heat shield by removing 4 small screws using a 10mm socket. After removal, cut 2 holes in the heat shield as shown in the diagram (trim 1" hole on dimple on "R" and "M"). Later, reinstall the heat shield with 3 of the fasteners, without using the fastener between the hitch mounting holes.
No drilling is required. However, the installation does require trimming 2 holes in the heat shield and enlarging access holes on both frame rails to allow 1/2" fasteners to pass through. Use a die grinder to enlarge the access holes and aviator shears to trim the heat shield.
Fishwiring is a technique used to route the 1/2" hardware (bolts and spacers) through the access holes into position on both sides of the frame rails. The manual includes 6 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE) in the hardware kit for this purpose. This allows fasteners to be positioned before the hitch is raised into place.
Remove 8 rubber plugs total from the frame: 1 large and 3 small from each frame rail (driver side and passenger side). After removal, enlarge the access holes on both sides to allow the 1/2" fasteners to pass into the frame rail.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. This is the final torque value after the hitch is raised into position and all fasteners are loosely installed.
The kit includes: 6 bolts (1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2", Grade 8, part 10-10287), 6 spacers (.250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole, part CM-SP6), 6 nuts (serrated flange, 1/2-13 UNC, Grade 8, part 20-00062), and 6 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE).
Reinstall the heat shield with 3 of the original 4 fasteners. Do not reinstall the fastener between the hitch mounting holes. The heat shield will be positioned between the hitch and vehicle frame rails. This is done after fishwiring the 1/2" hardware into position but before raising the hitch.
After torquing all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft, reinstall the exhaust and underbody panels onto the vehicle.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this product must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.

Curt part 56212 is a 4-flat OEM type replacement connector with an install kit for Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S vehicles. It includes a T-Connector harness, converter box, wiring, and hardware for connecting a trailer to your vehicle's electrical system.
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. The battery is located on the passenger's side under the hood. Reconnect it only after all other installation steps are complete.
You must remove: all trunk floor coverings, three plastic push fasteners and the rear scuff panel, and three plastic push fasteners on each side of the trunk that hold the felt trunk liner in place. These removals provide access to the taillight wiring harness connectors.
The vehicle's wiring harness connectors are located in the trunk behind the taillight in positions P3 and P4, as shown in the Wiring Location Guide included with the kit. You will access them after removing the trunk floor coverings, scuff panel, and felt trunk liner.
Separate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors by carefully pulling them apart, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the green wire between the separated connectors on the passenger's side, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the driver's side using the T-Connector end with the yellow wire.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. The area must be free of rust, dirt, or paint. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and screw provided with the kit.
Drilling may be required. If a suitable existing grounding point (such as a screw with nut in the vehicle's frame) is not available, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. Before drilling, verify that no miscellaneous items are hidden behind or under the surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. The grounding point should be located near the connector and must be free of rust, dirt, or paint.
Route the 4-flat wire to the center of the vehicle when in use. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle and adhere the black converter box using the double-sided tape provided with the kit.
The T-Connector harness includes a green wire (passenger's side connection), a yellow wire (driver's side connection), a white ground wire, and a black power wire. The green and yellow wires connect to the taillight harness; the white wire grounds to the vehicle frame; and the black wire routes from the battery.
The battery connection must be fuse protected with a maximum of 10 amps. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Do not exceed the tow vehicle's lamp load rating or the product rating, whichever is lower.
Signal circuits are limited to 3.0 amps per side, and tail/running circuits are limited to 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed the tow vehicle's lamp load rating or the product rating of 10 amps maximum fuse protection, whichever is lower. Check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for your specific lamp load rating.
Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items are not hidden behind or under any surface. Drilling without checking can cause damage to hidden components and personal injury.
Use the provided cable ties to secure any loose wires during installation.
