This fits: 2001-2005 BMW 330Ci Coupe
However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the BMW 323Ci, 323i, 323is, 325Ci, 325i, 325xi, 328Ci, 328i, 328is, 330Ci, 330i and 330xi (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes installation hardware

Hitch 11174 fits 00-05 BMW 3 Series Coupe and Wagon, and 99-05 BMW 3 Series Sedan. It does not fit M versions of these models. Confirm your model year and body style before purchasing.
Hitch 11174 is designed for use with Ballmount D-55010 or 45510. Verify you have the correct ballmount before installation.
The manual specifies a gross load capacity of 2000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Check your BMW owner's manual for the maximum towing limit.
The hitch weight is listed as blank in the manual provided. Contact Curt Manufacturing or your dealer for the exact weight specification.
The kit includes: four 3/8-16 UNC hex head cap screws (1-1/4"), four 3/8-16 UNC serrated flange nuts, four 7/16-14 UNC serrated flange nuts, four 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (2"), two 0.188 x 1.00 spacers, and two 0.375" spacer plates. Two reinforcement brackets are also included.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill four 7/16" holes in the tire well using the reinforcement brackets as a template, and additional mounting holes using the hitch as a template. A center punch is needed to mark hole locations before drilling.
You will need a drill with a 7/16" drill bit, a center punch, wrenches or sockets to fit 3/8" and 7/16" fasteners, and a torque wrench. A helper may be useful to hold the lower fascia away while tightening fasteners.
Yes. Temporarily remove all items from the car's trunk before beginning installation. This provides access to the tire wells where the reinforcement brackets must be positioned.
The two reinforcement brackets are placed inside the tire well, each fitting in a body recess with plate centers 9 3/4" apart. The longer end of each bracket should be positioned against the rear wall of the tire well so the edge of the plate lines up with the body lip detail.
1. Remove items from trunk and position the two reinforcement brackets in the tire wells with plate centers 9 3/4" apart, longer end against the rear wall. 2. Using the brackets as a template, mark, center punch, and drill four 7/16" holes. 3. Install carriage bolts into the bracket, lift the hitch into position, and attach it to the two carriage bolts. Install remaining bracket fasteners, holding the lower fascia away if necessary. 4. Using the hitch as a template, drill remaining mounting holes and install hardware. 5. Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 lb.-ft. and all 3/8" hardware to 45 lb.-ft.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 lb.-ft. and all 3/8" hardware to 45 lb.-ft. The manual does not specify which individual fasteners are 3/8" versus 7/16", so refer to the assembly diagram or contact Curt Manufacturing for clarification on specific bolt locations.
The manual states it may be necessary to hold the lower fascia away temporarily to tighten fasteners. This is a temporary measure during installation, not a permanent removal.
After installation, verify that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Periodically check the hitch during ownership to ensure fasteners remain tight and the hitch is in good condition.
The hitch is rated for 2000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Your BMW may have a lower limit; check your owner's manual.
Yes, if it's a 00-05 Coupe/Wagon or 99-05 Sedan (non-M versions). No, if it's an M version or different generation.
Yes. You must drill four 7/16" holes in the tire well and additional mounting holes. A 7/16" drill bit, center punch, and torque wrench are needed.
Torque 7/16" hardware to 70 lb.-ft. and 3/8" hardware to 45 lb.-ft. Refer to the assembly diagram to identify which fasteners are which size.
The hitch is designed for Ballmount D-55010 or 45510. Use only these approved ballmounts.
2000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight, but do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound. No other maintenance is specified in the manual.
