The 3072-037 is an Electric Trailer Brake Control Wiring Adapter designed for Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche vehicles. It connects to the vehicle's electric brake control harness connector to enable trailer brake control functionality. The adapter must be plugged into the vehicle's mating brake control connector, and all brake control manufacturer's installation instructions must be followed after installation.
On Volkswagen vehicles, the brake control plug can be located either under the dashboard or behind the lower kick panel near the emergency brake pedal. If under the dashboard, remove two Torx T20 screws under the lower dash panel and pull down the dash panel to locate the mating 4-pin connector wrapped in grey foam tape. If behind the kick panel, remove the lower kick panel and door sill as needed to locate the mating connector wrapped in grey foam tape.
On Audi vehicles, the brake control connector is located centered behind the dashboard between the steering column and the radio. To access it, locate and remove two 8mm bolts under the dash panel, then remove the two small trim panels on each side of the steering column. The mating brake control connector is wrapped in grey foam tape.
On Porsche vehicles, the brake control mating plug is located behind the dash panel on the right side of the steering wheel, wrapped in grey foam tape.
