This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Curt part number 114303 is designed for the Chevrolet Cobalt, excluding the SS Coupe model. If you have a standard Cobalt (non-SS Coupe), this hitch is compatible. If you have an SS Coupe variant, this hitch is not recommended.
The Curt 114303 is designed for use with ball mount part number D-21 / 45521. You will need to purchase this separately if not already included.
The kit includes: 4 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/4), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP20, .250 x 1.50 x 4.00"), 6 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213), 2 hex bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2), 2 flat washers (FW12), and 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP4, .250 x 1.50 x 3.00").
You will need a 1/2" drill bit, a center punch, a torque wrench capable of 110 lb-ft, and standard wrenches or sockets to fit 1/2" fasteners. A drill press or hand drill is required to drill holes in the bumper beam and trunk pan.
Yes. You must temporarily remove the trunk pan cover and move the battery away from the trunk pan wall to provide clearance for drilling. The battery and trunk pan cover must be replaced after installation is complete.
Yes. The rear air dam must be removed before installation. After installation is complete, the rear air dam should be returned to the vehicle owner.
Locate and mark the center of the vehicle on the bumper beam. Position the hitch on the vehicle center, ensuring the back of the side plates sit flat against the trunk pan. Mark and center punch the 4 holes in the bumper beam, then drill them with a 1/2" drill bit before securing the hitch.
First, secure the hitch to the bumper beam using 4 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/4), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP20), and 6 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213). Then drill 2 holes in the trunk pan and install 2 hex bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2), 2 flat washers (FW12), 2 square hole spacers (CM-SP4), and 2 hex flange nuts through the trunk. Seal the trunk pan holes with silicone. Finally, torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Yes. Drilling is required. You must drill 4 holes (1/2" diameter) in the bumper beam and 2 holes (1/2" diameter) in the trunk pan. The holes in the trunk pan must be sealed with silicone after drilling.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This applies to the carriage bolts, hex bolts, and all hex flange nuts used in the installation.

Non-trailer loads can be applied to this hitch only if they are supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
