Class 4 hitches are available for a variety of makes and models, from pickup trucks and SUVs to full-size and commercial vans. This particular class 4 hitch fits certain years of the Chevy Silverado 1500, 1500 Classic or 1500 HD Classic and GMC Sierra 1500, 1500 Classic or 1500 HD Classic (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 10,000 lbs. GTW and 1,000 lbs. TW. It can also accept a weight distributing hitch, offering a maximum WD capacity of 12,000 lbs. and a WDTW of 1,200 lbs. CURT class 4 tow hitches are as much suited for work as they are for play. With their high load capacities, they are typically used for towing larger trailers, including everything from a double-axle utility trailer or livestock trailer to a full-length camper or large boat trailer (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). All CURT class 4 receiver hitches come with a 2" receiver tube opening and all the necessary hardware for a complete installation. From light-duty to heavy-duty, every CURT custom hitch is engineered to be vehicle-specific, using actual vehicles to create the optimal design. We then combine high-strength steel, precise welding and a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and durable black powder coat to provide you with a hitch you can depend on. To prove it, we test all our hitches in accordance with SAE J684 for safety.

Yes. Step 1 requires you to temporarily lower the spare tire for ease of installation. After completing the hitch installation (Step 5), you must reinstall the spare tire in Step 6.
Only if your vehicle is a 2014 or newer model. The manual states: "For 2014 and newer non-hitch equipped vehicles you will need to remove a factory light duty bumper mount hitch prior to hitch installation." Prior-year models do not have this factory hitch and do not require this removal step.
Remove the following in order: (2) M8 bolts connecting the center hitch tabs to the bumper; (2) M14 x 80mm bolts and (2) M14 nuts securing the hitch to the frame rails; and (2) M14 x 45mm bolts securing the rear of the hitch to the weldnuts. Also remove (4) M12 nuts and (2) M12 x 40mm stud plates from the side of the frame rails. Return the M8, M14 x 80mm bolts, and M14 nuts to the owner. Retain the M14 x 45mm bolts and the M12 nuts and stud plates.
After removing the factory bumper hitch, you must re-install the M12 stud plates and nuts that you removed in Step 2d, and torque the nuts to 52 ft-lbs.

Raise the hitch into position by aligning the rearmost holes in the hitch with the holes where the bumper bracket bolts were removed (Step 2c for 2014+ models, or the existing M14 bumper bracket bolt holes for prior-year models). This is described in Step 3.
Secure the rear of the hitch using M14 bolts and 9/16" conical toothed washers in the existing weldnuts on the frame rails, as shown in the diagram (Step 3).
Install 1/2" carriage bolts, spacers (CM-SP1), and flange nuts (HFN 1213) in the remaining holes as shown in the diagram (Step 4).
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs (Step 5).
Torque all 14mm hardware to 103 ft-lbs (Step 5).
Torque the M12 nuts to 52 ft-lbs when re-installing the stud plates removed from the factory bumper hitch (Step 2f).
After installation, periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is a maintenance requirement stated in the manual.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The hitch is rated for 10,000 lbs. trailer weight and 1,000 lbs. tongue weight as a weight-carrying hitch, or 12,000 lbs. trailer weight and 1,200 lbs. tongue weight as a weight-distribution hitch, but your vehicle's manufacturer limits may be lower.
