All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Mitsubishi Lancer (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

The hitch is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
The hitch is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 or #45501. A Euro mount option is also available: #45571 (1-7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball).
You will need: ratchet, 3/4" socket, 15/16" socket, 10" extension, die grinder with carbide bit, torque wrench, and access to the vehicle's tow loop/tie-down. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation.

Yes. Using a die grinder with a carbide bit, you must enlarge the access hole to allow the carriage bolts and spacers to fit through. This is the first installation step.
Fishwire is a fastening method used in this installation. The 1/2" bolts and spacers are fishwired into the frame rail as shown in the installation diagram. Two pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part number 1_2 FISHWIRE) are included in the parts list.
Torque all 5/8" fasteners to 210 lb-ft. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
The parts list includes: 2 carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 1 1/4 (part 1), 2 square hole spacers .250 x 1.00 x 3.00" CM-SP6 (part 2), 2 hex flange nuts HFN 1213 (part 3), 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part 4), 1 carriage bolt 5/8-11 x 2 (part 5), 1 hex flange nut 5/8-11 (part 6), and 1 spacer .250" CM-11479-SP (part 7).
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before you begin installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
All non-trailer loads applied to this product must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This is critical for safe operation.
CURT Manufacturing LLC warrants this product to be free of defects in material and/or workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If the product is found to be defective, CURT may repair or replace the product at their option when the product is returned, prepaid, with proof of purchase. Alteration to, misuse, or improper installation voids the warranty.
