However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Mercedes-Benz C250, C300, C350 and C63 AMG (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes installation hardware

Yes, CURT part number 11030 is designed for 2008-2013 Mercedes Benz C-Class sedans. The hitch is a weight-carrying receiver hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Note that minor fascia trimming may be required on C300 models.
CURT hitch 11030 is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 or #45501. Consult the ballmount installation instructions or contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for compatibility details.
CURT hitch 11030 has a maximum trailer weight capacity of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Yes, but all non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Required tools include: ratchet, ratchet extension, 10mm and 3/4" sockets, power drill, 1/16"-17/32" drill bits, marker, torque wrench, center punch, and safety glasses. A die grinder with a cone-shaped bit is optional but may be easier than drill bits for drilling the bumper beam holes.
The hitch includes: 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire, 2 carriage bolts 1/2-13 UNC 1-1/4" (part 10-10116), 4 serrated flange nuts 1/2-13 UNC (part 20-00165), 2 carriage bolts 1/2-13 UNC 2" (part 10-10302), 2 square hole spacers 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00" (part CM-SP6), 4 hex cap screws 1/2-13 UNC 2-1/2" (part 10-10358), and 4 conical toothed washers 1/2" (part 30-00149).
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for guidance on this step.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill holes in the bumper beam to secure the hitch. The manual recommends starting with a small drill bit for a pilot hole. A die grinder with a cone-shaped bit may be easier than drill bits for this step. Drill bits in the range of 1/16"-17/32" are required.
Minor fascia trimming may be required on C300 models. The manual does not specify whether trimming is required on other C-Class variants. Contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 if you are unsure whether your specific model requires trimming.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 75 ft-lbs. This torque specification applies to all 1/2-13 bolts and nuts used in the installation.
Installation follows these steps: (1) Remove two fasteners attaching fascia to trunk pan. (2) Raise nut plate and mounting strap around vehicle crossmember and secure with 1/2-13 x 2-1/2" hex bolts and 1/2" conical toothed washers. (3) Raise hitch weldment past fascia lip and secure to mounting strap using 1/2-13 x 1-1/4" carriage bolts and 1/2-13 flange nuts. (4) Press hitch against bumper beam bottom, center on vehicle, and mark hole locations using hitch as template. (5) Lower hitch and drill marked locations, starting with small pilot holes. (6) Fishwire 1/2-13 x 2" carriage bolts and SP6 spacers through access holes between fascia and bumper beam, then raise hitch and secure with 1/2-13 flange nuts. (7) Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 75 ft-lbs and re-install fasteners removed in step 1.
Fishwire is a flexible wire tool included with the hitch (2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire per parts list). It is used to route the 1/2-13 x 2" carriage bolts and SP6 spacers through the access holes between the fascia and the back of the bumper beam, and out through the holes drilled in the bumper beam. This allows you to secure the hitch without removing the bumper fascia.
After installation, periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is a critical maintenance step to ensure safe operation.
The manual states that you should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval. For specific maintenance schedules, contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before you begin installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
