Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Dodge Journey (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,000 lbs. GTW and 400 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 4,000 lbs. WD and 400 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Voyager with LED taillights (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. 1. Lower exhaust by removing 3 rubber isolators from each side and support from underneath. 2. Fishwire carriage bolts and small square hole spacers through the space between bumper beam and frame rail on both sides. 3. Fishwire remaining carriage bolts and large spacers through the bumper beam. 4. Raise hitch into position with wedge-shaped spacers and secure with hex flange nuts (temporarily disconnect driver side electrical connector if equipped). 5. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. 6. Raise exhaust back into position and reinstall the 6 rubber isolators.
Fishwire is a flexible wire tool included with the kit (2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire, part number 1_2 FISHWIRE). It is used to thread carriage bolts and spacers through tight spaces: first through the space between the bumper beam and frame rail end (Step 2), then through the bumper beam itself (Step 3). This allows you to position the hardware without removing the bumper.
Three types of spacers are used: (1) Small square hole spacers (CM-SP12, qty 4, 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.00") are fishwired through with carriage bolts in Step 2. (2) Large square hole spacers (CM-SP4, qty 2, 0.250 x 1.50 x 3.00") are fishwired through in Step 3. (3) Wedge-shaped spacers (CM-SP38, qty 2, 1/2") are positioned between the hitch and frame as the hitch is raised into position in Step 4.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This is performed in Step 5 after the hitch is raised into position and secured with hex flange nuts.

Locate a suitable grounding point near the black converter box, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. Clean the area of rust, dirt and paint, then secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling is only required if a suitable existing grounding point is not available near the converter box. If drilling is necessary, you will drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. Always check for hidden items behind or under surfaces before drilling to avoid damage and personal injury.
Remove the taillight and locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connector. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end (green for passenger side, yellow for driver side) between the separated connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Open the tailgate. Remove the two taillight fasteners securing the taillight in place. Gently pull the taillight rearward and out, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. When in use, route it to the center of the vehicle. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
