However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Ford Focus (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
Installation requires some drilling
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

Yes, CURT hitch 11431 is designed for 2013-present Ford Focus ST Hatchback models. Verify your vehicle year and body style (hatchback) match before purchasing.
The hitch is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch is designed for use with ballmount #45521. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, power drill, die grinder, 15/32" drill bit, 11/16" drill bit, 6" socket extension, 13mm socket, marker, and safety glasses. Proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Yes, drilling is required. You will drill two holes (one on each side of the frame) using a 15/32" drill bit. The hitch is used as a template to mark drill locations. You will also need to enlarge existing access holes using a die grinder to allow 7/16" carriage bolts and SP7 spacers to pass through.
Yes. The first step is to remove four bolts and lower the two rear exhaust brackets. Return the bolts to the vehicle owner. The exhaust brackets are then repositioned during installation (step 7) and secured with M8-1.25 hex bolts and 3/8" conical toothed washers.
Torque all M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs. Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs. These specifications apply to both the M8-1.25 hex bolts and the 7/16"-14 carriage bolts.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Before you begin, read all instructions thoroughly. Periodically check the hitch after installation to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound.
Electrical wiring must be a minimum of 12 inches from the exhaust tips. The ballmount may become hot due to the center exhaust, so maintain this clearance to prevent damage to wiring.

Fishwire is a technique used to route the 7/16"-14 carriage bolts and SP7 spacers through the enlarged access holes and out the drilled holes in the frame rails. Two pieces of 7/16" fishwire are supplied with the hitch for this purpose. This technique allows you to position the hardware without removing the hitch.
Included hardware: (2) 7/16"-14 UNC carriage bolts (10-10282), (2) 7/16"-14 UNC serrated flange nuts (20-00103), (4) 3/8" conical toothed washers (30-00148), (2) 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.00" square hole spacers CM-SP7, (4) M8x1.25 hex bolts (10-10417), (2) spacers 11431-SP, and (2) pieces of 7/16" fishwire.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
