Whatever the next checkpoint is on your adventure -- whether it's getting your bike on the trail before sunrise or making it to the campground before dark -- CURT class 2 hitches let you Bring It with confidence. These receiver hitches are made to handle most light-duty towing applications and offer a custom fit for your vehicle. Typically used on full-size cars, crossovers, compact SUVs, minivans or even compact pickup trucks, a CURT class 2 trailer hitch complements the design of smaller vehicles. This particular class 2 hitch is made to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Toyota Avalon and Camry (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It offers a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. Class 2 trailer hitches can typically be used to tow a variety of lightweight trailers, such as a small utility trailer, small fishing boat trailer or popup camper (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). They are also perfect for adding cargo space to your vehicle with a bike rack or cargo carrier. This class 2 hitch features a 1-1/4" receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch-mounted accessory. For safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. A custom trailer hitch design requires extra care, and as such, CURT class 2 hitches are engineered using real vehicles and hands-on research. We use high-strength steel, robotic welding and rigorous testing to produce hitches that are built to fit your lifestyle. To ensure that each hitch will be a reliable extension of your vehicle, we also finish our hitches in a co-curing of liquid A-coat and black powder coat, giving them long-lasting rust and wear resistance.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes installation hardware

Yes, CURT part number 12107 is designed for Toyota Avalon and Camry sedans from 2012 to present. The hitch is a weight-carrying receiver hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 3500 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. Always verify your vehicle's year and model match these specifications before purchasing.
The CURT 12107 hitch has a maximum trailer weight capacity of 3500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating. Always consult your vehicle's owner manual to confirm the maximum towing capacity your vehicle can safely handle.
The CURT 12107 hitch is designed for use with ball mount part number D-55001 or 45501. Euro mount options are also available: part number 45571 (1 7/8" ball) and part number 45572 (2" ball).
Required tools include: ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, and 17mm sockets, 3/4" socket, power drill with 1/2" drill bit, die grinder, aviation shears, tape measure, and safety glasses. A marker is also recommended for marking hole locations.
Yes, underbody panel removal is required if the panel covers the driver side frame. Remove 4 screws (7 on single exhaust models) using a 10mm socket in the bumper fascia, remove 2 push-button fasteners (4 on single exhaust models), unscrew 3 plastic nuts using a 10mm socket towards the front, and unscrew 2 plastic nuts using a 12mm socket in the center. On single exhaust models, also remove 1 screw attaching the underbody cover to the driver side frame rail. You can trim the panel to allow the hitch to pass through, or return it to the vehicle owner.
Yes, temporary lowering of the exhaust is required. Remove 2 bolts which attach exhaust hanger brackets to the passenger side frame rail and remove the rubber isolator located forward of the muffler. After installation is complete, raise the exhaust back into position and reinstall the rubber isolators if they were removed.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill a 1/2" pilot hole in each frame rail as marked during temporary hitch positioning. You then enlarge these drilled holes enough to accept the supplied spacers and carriage bolts, being careful not to damage the existing weldnuts. Additionally, you must make a 1" hole in the heat shield(s) on the marked location.
Yes, heat shield trimming is required. Remove the heat shield by removing 2 screws which secure it to the frame rail, then trim off the rearmost section of the heat shield as shown in the Heat Shield Trim Diagram. On the passenger side, trim 11" off the rearmost section. On the driver side (if present), trim 8" off the rearmost section. After drilling the 1" hole in the heat shield, reinstall it using only the forward most screw, with the rearward edge compressed between the frame rail and the edge of the hitch side plate.
Trimming the underbody panel is optional. If you decide to trim it, use the diagram provided in the manual to cut a section allowing the hitch to pass through. After trimming, you can reinstall the panel on the vehicle or return it to the vehicle owner. If you choose not to trim it, you can return the untrimmed panel to the vehicle owner.
The reverse fishwire technique is used to thread the supplied spacers and carriage bolts up through the enlarged holes in the frame rails. Two 1/2" fishwires are supplied with the hitch. You reverse fishwire the spacers and carriage bolts up through the enlarged holes, leaving the fishwires attached. The fishwires are then threaded through the side plates when the hitch is raised back into position. Refer to the Reverse Fishwire Technique Diagram in the manual for detailed instructions.
Yes, you must bend the tab on the exhaust hanger bracket(s) so that it rests flat on the surface of the hitch side plate(s). This is done before raising the hitch back into position and reinstalling the exhaust hanger bracket with the hitch between it and the frame.
Torque all M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. These torque values must be applied after all fasteners are installed and the hitch is in its final position.
The CURT 12107 includes: 4 M10x1.25 hex head cap screws (part 10-10298), 2 square hole spacers 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50" (part CM-SP10), 2 carriage bolts 1/2"-13 UNC 1-1/4" (part 10-10278), 2 serrated flange nuts 1/2"-13 UNC (part 20-00062), 4 washers 7/16" (part 30-00163), and 2 pieces of 1/2" fishwire (part 1_2 FISHWIRE).

The manual instructs you to enlarge the drilled hole in each frame rail "being careful not to damage weldnuts." If the weldnut is damaged during enlargement, the hitch cannot be properly secured. Stop work immediately and contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for assistance. Do not attempt to proceed with installation if the weldnut is damaged.

If the heat shield does not compress properly, verify that you have trimmed the correct amount (11" on passenger side, 8" on driver side) and that the hitch is positioned correctly. If the problem persists, contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634.
