This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ (see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

The CURT 12091 is rated for a maximum of 3500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
You will need: 7mm and 10mm sockets, 3/4" socket, ratchet, torque wrench, and safety glasses. A socket set, part removal tool, and 1/2" fishwire are also required. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce time required.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing access holes in the frame rails on both sides of the vehicle. The installation uses fishwiring to route the bolts and spacer blocks through these access holes.
The kit includes: 4 hex flange nuts (HFN 1213, GR8), 4 carriage bolts (1/2-13 x 1 1/2, GR8), 4 spacers (CM-SP10, .250 x 1.00 x 2.50"), and 4 pieces of 1/2" fishwire. An optional ball mount (D-45501 or 45501) is available separately and is designed for use with Euro mounts 45562 (2" ball) or 45561 (1 7/8" ball).
Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Then remove the lower rear air deflector by removing 4 ten-millimetre nuts and 6 seven-millimetre screws from the lower body fascia. Keep the fascia piece and hardware to return to the customer.
Use the 1/2" fishwire to thread the 1/2" bolts and spacer blocks through the access hole on each side of the vehicle frame rail. The fishwire acts as a guide to pull the bolts through the frame from the inside to the outside.
Raise the hitch into position and secure it with the 1/2" hex flange nuts on both the driver and passenger sides. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
All 1/2" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. Use a calibrated torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person can help with positioning the hitch and managing the fishwiring process.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
All non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
