However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Kia Optima (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, CURT part number 11025 is designed for 2011–2015 Kia Optima sedans. It is not compatible with other body styles or model years outside this range.
The CURT 11025 is rated for a minimum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Always verify your vehicle's limits before towing.
Non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT stabilizing straps, part number 18050. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Consult the CURT catalog or website for details on the 18050 straps.
You will need: ratchet, 10 mm socket, 3/4 inch socket, torque wrench, pry bar, safety glasses, spray lubricant, and a die grinder (for trimming the underbody panel if present). A spray lubricant is recommended to ease installation.
The kit includes: 4× 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 bolts (1-1/4 inch long, part 10-10278), 4× 0.250 × 1.00 × 3.00 inch square hole spacers (part CM-SP6), 4× 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062), and 2× 1/2 inch × 30 inch fishwire (part 1_2 x 30 FISHWIRE).
The manual does not specify whether battery disconnection is required. Contact CURT technical support at 877-287-8634 for clarification before beginning installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
The installation is rated as Easy to Moderate. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly before beginning and using proper tools to improve quality and reduce installation time.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to remove the rubber exhaust hangers and lower the exhaust. Be sure to support the exhaust to prevent damage. After the hitch is installed and torqued, you will raise the exhaust back into position in step 7.
Yes. Step 2 requires removal of the heat shield(s) by removing 4 fasteners. After torquing the hitch hardware in step 7, you will reinstall the heat shield(s), leaving the rear-most fastener off. You may have to slot the front hole in the heat shield to allow clearance.
If your vehicle has a plastic underbody panel, step 2 requires its removal by removing 6 fasteners. After the hitch is installed and torqued, you will trim and reinstall the panel in step 7 according to the trim diagram on page 2 or 4.
The frame rail pads are protective covers over the mounting holes on each frame rail. Step 3 requires you to remove 2 pads from each frame rail and discard them. These holes will be used to mount the hitch.
You may need to enlarge the forward-most hole on both sides of the frame to allow 1/2 inch bolts and spacers to pass through. This is only necessary if there is no fishwire access between the bumper and the rear-most part of the frame. Check for access in step 4 before deciding whether enlargement is needed.
If your vehicle has a plastic underbody panel, you will need to trim it after the hitch is installed. The trim diagram on page 2 or 4 shows approximate trim dimensions: 4 inches on each side (items 401 and 403), 7 inches at the bottom, and 1/4 inch and 1 4/8 inch at specific locations. Trim dimensions are approximate; check fit prior to completing the trim. A die grinder is recommended for this work.
All 1/2 inch hardware must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. This is done in step 7 after the hitch is raised into position and attached to the frame using the 1/2 inch flange nuts.
The hitch uses 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 bolts, 1-1/4 inches long (part 10-10278). Four bolts are included in the kit.
The kit includes 4 square hole spacers, each 0.250 × 1.00 × 3.00 inches (part CM-SP6). These spacers are fishwired and bolted into position on the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle frame in step 4.
The kit includes 4 serrated flange nuts, 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 (part 20-00062). These nuts are used to attach the hitch to the frame in step 6 and are torqued to 110 ft-lbs in step 7.
Fishwire is a flexible wire tool used to route bolts and spacers through tight spaces. The kit includes 2 pieces of 1/2 inch × 30 inch fishwire (part 1_2 x 30 FISHWIRE). In step 4, you fishwire the 1/2 inch bolts and spacers into position on the driver and passenger sides of the vehicle frame. The manual references a fishwire technique diagram for detailed guidance.
After installation, periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is important for safe towing.
The CURT 11025 is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 or #45501. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1-7/8 inch ball) and #45572 (2 inch ball).
Yes, the CURT 11025 fits 2011–2014 Hyundai Sonata sedans (including Blue Drive) and 2011–2015 Kia Optima sedans.
The CURT 11025 is rated for 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight minimum. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.

Yes, the Curt 56314 custom wiring harness is designed for Kia Optima and Kia Optima Hybrid models. The harness connects to the vehicle's taillight wiring connectors located behind the driver and passenger side taillight housings inside the trunk.
Yes, the Curt 56314 custom wiring harness is compatible with both Kia Optima and Kia Optima Hybrid models.
The Curt 56314 has two circuit ratings: Signal Circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side, and Tail/Running Circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
You will need: Phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, panel trim removal tool, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool. A 3/32" drill bit is also needed if you must drill a pilot hole for the ground wire screw.
Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. This is a required safety step performed in Step 1 of the installation process.
After removing the trunk floor coverings and rear scuff panel, pull back the felt liner to locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness connectors. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing carefully, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors on the driver side, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. If no suitable existing screw is available, drill a 3/32" pilot hole and use the provided screw. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The converter box should be positioned in a location that is accessible but out of the way.
Route the black power wire from the vehicle battery as shown on the included CME-PCL-INS sheet. This separate instruction sheet provides the specific routing path for your vehicle. The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse.
When not in use, roll up the 4-flat connector and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties to prevent tangling and damage.
Reinstall all items removed during installation, including trunk floor coverings, felt liner, and rear scuff panel. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. Test the wiring harness for proper function using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
