This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Subaru Impreza (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you’re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

You will need: 11/16" socket, 3/4" socket, ratchet, and torque wrench. The installation also requires fishwire (two sizes are included: 1/2" and 7/16") to route fasteners through the frame rail access holes.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust by removing 5 rear rubber isolators before installation. After the hitch is installed and torqued, you will re-install the exhaust onto the vehicle. The heat shield will be sandwiched between the hitch and the vehicle frame rails during installation.
No drilling is required. However, you must enlarge the existing access holes on both sides of the frame to allow the 1/2" fasteners to pass into the frame rail. The rubber plugs (1 large and 1 small from each frame rail) must be removed first.
Fishwiring is a technique used to route fasteners through the frame rail access holes into position. For the Curt 113173, you must first fishwire the 7/16" hardware through the access hole into position on both sides, then reverse fishwire the 1/2" fasteners into position. This allows fasteners to be installed without drilling new holes. Fishwire (two sizes) is included with the hitch.
Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
The parts list includes: 2x carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 1 1/2, 2x .250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP6), 4x .188 x 1.50 x 3.00" round hole spacers (CM-SP34), 2x hex flange nuts HFN 1213, 2x carriage bolts 7/16-14 x 1 1/2, 2x .250 x 1.00 x 2.50" square hole spacers (CM-SP11), 2x hex flange nuts 7/16-14, 1x 1/2" fishwire, and 1x 7/16" fishwire.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by Curt 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. This requirement applies to any load that is not a trailer.
You should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended.
Curt Manufacturing Inc. warrants this product to be free of defects in material and/or workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If the product is found to be defective, Curt may repair or replace it at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. Alteration, misuse, or improper installation voids the warranty, as does failure to properly support non-trailer loads with 18050 stabilizing straps.
