However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Honda Accord (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Honda Accord sedan (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, the Curt 11681 is designed for Honda Accord (all) from 2013 onwards, covering all body styles.
The Curt 11681 has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The Curt 11681 is designed for use with ball mount D-55001 or 45501. Euro mount options are available: part number 45571 (1-7/8" ball) and 45572 (2" ball).
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses fishwire hardware inserted through existing access holes in both frame rails.
Required tools are: pry bar, ratchet, sockets (10mm, 9/16", and 11/16"), torque wrench, aviation shears, tape measure, and safety glasses.
Two people may be required to ease installation, though it is not strictly mandatory. The manual notes that using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
The first step is to lower the exhaust by removing two rubber exhaust isolators for single exhaust vehicles or three isolators for dual exhaust vehicles. Save these isolators for reinstallation.
Remove the heat shield(s) by removing four fasteners per shield. Save all fasteners for reinstallation later.
Fishwire 7/16"-14 x 1 1/4" carriage bolts with CM-SP2 spacers into position through access holes in both frame rails. Leave fishwires attached to prevent loss of hardware inside the frame rail. Later, insert the fishwires through mounting holes in the hitch to raise it into position.
Insert the 3/8" U-bolt through the tow hook. Then insert fishwires through mounting holes in the hitch and raise the hitch into position. Secure it to the U-bolt with 3/8"-16 hex flange nuts.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs and all 3/8" hardware to 45 ft-lbs.
If an underbody panel is present, trim it and slide the hitch bracket through the trimmed section. Then raise the underbody panel into position and reinstall fasteners.
Trim heat shield(s) around the hitch. The trim dimensions shown in the heat shield trimming diagram are approximate (approximately 4 inches on top, 3 inches on the sides, and 4 inches on the bottom). You must confirm fit prior to trimming. One fastener per shield will not be reinstalled after trimming.
Reinstall the heat shield(s) with the hardware removed in step 2. Bend the heat shield over the hitch as needed. Note that one fastener per shield will not be reinstalled.
Raise the exhaust and reattach the rubber isolators that were removed in step 1. Installation is then complete.
The kit includes: 2 x 7/16"-14 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10281), 2 x 0.250 x 0.88 x 2.25" square hole spacers (CM-SP2), 2 x 7/16"-14 UNC serrated flange nuts (20-00103), 1 x 3/8"-16 x 1.00 x 1.88 U-bolt, 2 x 3/8"-16 UNC serrated flange nuts (20-00102), and 2 x 7/16" fishwires.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before you begin installation, read all instructions thoroughly.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by Curt 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound.

The Curt 56299 is designed for Honda Accord sedans sold in the US only. If you own a different model year, body style (coupe, wagon, hatchback) or non-US market vehicle, confirm compatibility with the vehicle manufacturer or Curt before purchasing.
The harness is rated for 3.0 amps per side on signal circuits and 6.0 amps total on tail/running circuits. Do not exceed these ratings or your vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need: panel trim removal tool, flat blade screwdriver, wire stripper, crimping tool, and cutting tool. You may also need a drill with a 3/32" bit if a suitable grounding point with an existing screw is not available near the taillight connector.
Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation. Reconnect it only after all installation steps are complete and all items removed during installation have been reinstalled.
The taillight wiring connectors are located behind the felt liner inside the trunk. On the driver side, they are behind the driver side taillight housing (P3). On the passenger side, they are behind the passenger side taillight housing (P4). You will need to remove the trunk floor coverings, rear scuff panel, and felt liner fasteners to access them.
Insert the custom wiring harness end with the yellow wire between the separated driver-side taillight connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat on the passenger side using the harness end with the green wire. Take care not to damage the locking tabs during insertion.
Drilling is required only if a suitable grounding point with an existing screw and nut is not available near the taillight connector. If drilling is necessary, you will need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole in an area free of rust, dirt and paint. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items hidden behind or under surfaces to avoid damage and personal injury.
Drill a 3/32" pilot hole if a suitable existing screw is not available. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and the provided screw.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a 10-amp maximum fuse. Exceeding this rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly.
Do not exceed the product rating (3.0 amps per side on signal circuits, 6.0 amps total on tail/running circuits) or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding either rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for your specific lamp load rating.
Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
Yes, for Honda Accord sedans sold in the US only. Confirm your model year and body style match before purchasing.
Panel trim removal tool, flat blade screwdriver, wire stripper, crimping tool, cutting tool, and optionally a drill with 3/32" bit for grounding.
Yes, disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting and reconnect only after all installation is complete.
10-amp maximum fuse on the battery connection. Do not exceed this rating as it can cause overheating and fire.
Signal circuits: 3.0 amps per side. Tail/running circuits: 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these or your vehicle's lamp load rating.
