However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Honda Civic (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

The CURT 11463 is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.

Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two rear-most holes using a 1/4-inch drill bit, then enlarge all four holes to 1/2-inch diameter using a 1/4-inch step drill bit.
Yes, heat shield trimming is required. You must mark out a 9.25-inch by 10.50-inch section using masking tape and trim the heat shield with a die grinder or aviation shears. The heat shield is then reinstalled.
Remove three plastic push pins from the fascia using a screwdriver. Locate and remove four rubber isolators to lower the exhaust. Also locate and remove the plastic exhaust bracket behind the wheel and fascia; set it aside for reinstallation. Remove three bolts with a 10mm socket to remove the heat shield temporarily.
Fishwiring is threading fasteners through access holes in the frame rails. For the CURT 11463, you fishwire two 7/16-inch carriage bolts and two CM-SP2 spacers through the access hole located towards the front of each frame rail before raising the hitch into position.
The kit includes: four 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10282), four 0.250 x 0.88 x 2.25-inch square hole spacers (CM-SP2), four 7/16-14 UNC serrated flange nuts (part 20-00103), and four 7/16-inch fishwire pieces.
All 7/16-inch hardware must be torqued to 59 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench with an 11/16-inch socket to achieve this specification.
1. Remove fascia push pins and exhaust isolators; remove exhaust bracket. 2. Remove heat shield, mark and trim a 9.25 x 10.50-inch section, reinstall heat shield. 3. Raise hitch, mark rear holes, drill with 1/4-inch bit, lower hitch, enlarge all four holes to 1/2-inch with step drill bit. 4. Fishwire two carriage bolts and two spacers through front access holes. 5. Raise hitch, loosely fasten conical tooth washers and hex flange nuts. 6. Torque all 7/16-inch hardware to 59 ft-lbs, reinstall exhaust.
In step 5, loosely fasten the conical tooth washers and hex flange nuts. Do not fully tighten them until step 6, when you torque all 7/16-inch hardware to 59 ft-lbs using a torque wrench.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This maintenance is essential to safe operation.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product.
The CURT 11463 is designed for use with ball mount 45521. Euro mount options are available: part 45571 (1 7/8-inch ball) and part 45572 (2-inch ball).
The four CM-SP2 spacers (0.250 x 0.88 x 2.25 inches) are square hole spacers that are fishwired through the front access holes of each frame rail along with the carriage bolts. They help properly position and support the hitch during installation.
Reinstall the exhaust following step 1 in reverse order. This means reinstalling the plastic exhaust bracket, the four rubber isolators, and the three plastic push pins to the fascia.
