A CURT trailer hitch is the key to pursuing your passions, whether you're taking the family boat out for an afternoon on the water or packing up the mountain bikes for a day on the trails. This CURT class 2 hitch is perfect for towing a small trailer, such as a boat trailer, lightweight camper or utility trailer. It can also be used to mount a hitch cargo carrier or bike rack (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 2 trailer hitch is made for a vehicle-specific fit. It is engineered to seamlessly integrate with select years of the Kia Niro (except Plug-In; see application info to verify fitment). It is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. It is also equipped with 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" hitch receiver to accept the included ball mount. The ball mount that comes with this hitch kit has a 3/4" trailer ball hole and can be positioned in the drop or rise orientation for level towing with your specific trailer (trailer ball not included). Like all CURT custom receiver hitches, this class 2 hitch is designed, manufactured, finished and tested with the utmost care. It is engineered for a precise fit, easy installation, maximum towing strength and an integrated look on the vehicle. It is also tested to SAE J684 protocols for safety. This class 2 trailer hitch is finished with our industry-leading dual-coat process for unparalleled rust, chip and UV resistance. It is descaled for a smooth surface, submersed in liquid A-coat for rust prevention inside and out, covered with a highly durable powder coat, and finally co-cured for a dependable shield against the elements. This class 2 hitch comes with a ball mount, hitch pin and mounting hardware for a complete installation.

The kit includes: (4) M10-1.25 x 30 hex bolts, (4) 3/8" conical toothed washers, (2) 7/16-14 x 1 1/4 carriage bolts, (2) 7/16-14 hex flange nuts, (2) CM-SP2 square hole spacers (0.250 x 0.88 x 2.25"), and (2) 7/16" fishwires.
No. The manual explicitly states no drilling is required. The hitch uses existing weld nuts on the frame rails and access holes already present on the vehicle.
You must trim a 3" x 5" section from the plastic panel using aviation shears. Mark the section with masking tape and confirm the trim fits before reinstalling the panel. The panel is temporarily removed during installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly and using proper tools to improve installation quality and reduce time.
Professional installation time is approximately 45 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 20 minutes.
Yes. You must remove (4) bolts securing the metal exhaust guard using a 12mm socket and lower the exhaust by removing (3) rubber exhaust isolators: (1) on the driver side, (1) on the passenger side, and (1) in the center of the vehicle. The exhaust guard bolts are returned to the customer.
Remove the rubber plug from each side of the frame rail to reveal the access hole. Thread (2) 7/16" carriage bolts and (2) CM-SP2 spacers (one on each side) through the access hole using the fishwires. Feed the fishwires through the center hole of the hitch, then remove the fishwires and loosely secure with 7/16" hex flange nuts.
Torque all M10-1.25 hex bolts to 45 ft-lbs. Torque all 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) to 59 ft-lbs.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. If you are hesitant to undertake this task, contact an authorized CURT installer for assistance. Call CURT technical support at 800.798.0813 if you have questions.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is critical for safe towing.

If defective, CURT may repair or replace the product at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. Alteration, misuse, or improper installation voids the warranty.
