However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Tesla Model 3 (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid Bonderite, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)
Includes installation hardware

Installation is rated as Challenging. The process requires removal of multiple trim pieces, taillights, fascia, and the bumper beam, as well as trimming of the underbody panel. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning.
The first step is to access the rear taillights. Inside the trunk, locate and remove one plastic rivet (on 2017–2019 models) and gently remove the trunk liner. On top of each taillight, remove two plastic trunk stops (one on each side).
Locate and remove two nuts on each side using an 8mm socket. Unplug the electrical harness and gently remove the taillight. Set it aside for reinstallation. Also remove the exposed fascia screw on each side using a 10mm socket.
Locate and remove six plastic rivets along the wheel well (three on each side). Remove the Torx bit screw that attaches the bumper cover to the rear fender on each side. For the underbody panel, remove seven fasteners using a 10mm socket and one plastic rivet. Gently remove the rear fascia starting from the outside and releasing press-in tabs along the top. Unclip the electrical harness and set aside for reinstallation.
Locate and remove five fasteners from the rear plastic trim using a 10mm socket. To remove the bumper beam, remove six nuts (three on each side) using a 15mm socket. For 2021 and newer models, remove five nuts (three on the driver side and two on the passenger side) attaching the bumper beam. Set aside all hardware and the bumper beam for reinstallation.
Remove eight nuts (four on each side) using a 15mm socket. For 2021 and newer models, remove six nuts (three on each side) attaching the bumper beam plates. Return the bumper beam plates to the vehicle owner.
Use the 7/16 hardware (bolts, washers, and nuts included in the kit) to assemble the rear bumper and hitch. Raise the assembly into position using the vehicle studs to align on the rear of the vehicle. Use the hardware removed in Step 5 to secure the hitch to the vehicle. Use nylon washers to avoid hitch-vehicle contact.
Torque M10 hardware to 45 ft-lbs. Use nylon washers to avoid hitch-vehicle contact.
Torque the 7/16 hardware to 60 ft-lbs. Use nylon washers to avoid hitch-vehicle contact.
Reinstall the underbody panel and rear fascia using Steps 1–5 in reverse order. This includes reinstalling the bumper beam, bumper beam plates, rear fascia, taillights, and trunk liner.
