Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Toyota Highlander (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 6,000 lbs. GTW and 900 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 8,000 lbs. WD and 900 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
Trailer hitch weight ratings are limited to vehicle manufacturer's stated capacities
Not compatible for use with vertical hanging bicycles (bike racks that require the bicycles to be hung / mounted vertically)

Yes, CURT part number 13460 is designed for 2020-present Toyota Highlander SUVs. Confirm your vehicle matches this year range and model before purchasing.
When used as a weight-carrying hitch, the CURT 13460 supports 6,000 lbs trailer weight and 900 lbs tongue weight. When used as a weight-distribution hitch, it supports 8,000 lbs trailer weight and 900 lbs tongue weight. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The hitch weight is 30 lbs.
The hitch includes 6 M12×1.25 hex cap screws (part number 10-10275) and 6 1/2" conical toothed washers (part number 30-00149). These are used to secure the hitch to the frame weldnuts.
Required tools: screwdriver, ratchet, torque wrench, 10mm socket, 12mm socket, 17mm socket, 19mm socket, 6" extension, and safety glasses. A rotary tool is optional for trimming the fascia.
Two people may be required to ease installation. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing weldnuts in the frame for attachment.
Two modifications are required: (1) Mark and trim the lower fascia exhaust air deflector 2" from the hinge to allow room for the hitch. (2) Mark and trim the underbody panel to fit around the installed hitch. Dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming. A rotary tool is optional for this work.
The following must be removed: (1) 7 fasteners securing the driver side underbody panel (which is then lowered); (2) 4 rubber plugs from the frame rails; (3) 5 threaded plastic inserts from the frame rails; (4) 1 M12 bolt and 1 M6 screw securing the metal fascia tab to the passenger side frame rail; (5) the exhaust hanger rod closest to the exhaust tip from the rubber isolator. All removed parts should be returned to the owner or reinstalled after hitch installation.
Raise the hitch over the exhaust and align the holes in the hitch with the weldnuts in the frame. Secure the hitch using the supplied M12-1.25 hex bolts and 1/2" conical toothed washers. Torque all 12mm hardware to 86 ft-lbs.
Torque all 12mm hardware to 86 ft-lbs.
1. Remove 7 fasteners securing the driver side underbody panel and lower it. 2. Remove 4 rubber plugs and 5 threaded plastic inserts from frame rails. 3. Mark and trim the lower fascia exhaust air deflector 2" from the hinge. 4. Remove the M12 bolt and M6 screw securing the metal fascia tab to the passenger side frame rail. 5. Lower the muffler by removing the exhaust hanger rod closest to the exhaust tip from the rubber isolator. 6. Raise the hitch over the exhaust, align holes with weldnuts, and secure using M12-1.25 hex bolts and 1/2" washers; torque to 86 ft-lbs. 7. Mark and trim the underbody panel, reattach the muffler, and reinstall the underbody panel using original fasteners.
Yes. After lowering the underbody panel in Step 1, you can either return it to the owner or trim and reinstall it in Step 7. If reinstalling, mark and trim it to fit around the installed hitch (dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming), then reattach it using the fasteners removed in Step 1.
In Step 5, lower the muffler by removing the exhaust hanger rod closest to the exhaust tip from the rubber isolator. This allows clearance for the hitch. In Step 7, reinstall the muffler by reattaching the exhaust hanger rod to the rubber isolator.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This maintenance is essential for safe towing.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. This applies whether you are using the hitch as a weight-carrying hitch (6,000 lbs trailer / 900 lbs tongue) or weight-distribution hitch (8,000 lbs trailer / 900 lbs tongue).
Professional installation time is approximately 60 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 44 minutes.
The installation is rated as moderate difficulty. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required. Two people may be required to ease installation.
You will need 10mm, 12mm, 17mm, and 19mm sockets, plus a 6" extension.
Mark the lower fascia exhaust air deflector 2" from the hinge. This is where you should trim to allow room for the hitch.
Yes. Return the following removed parts to the owner: the 4 rubber plugs, the 5 threaded plastic inserts, the metal fascia tab, and the fasteners (M12 bolt and M6 screw) that secured the fascia tab. The underbody panel can either be returned to the owner or trimmed and reinstalled.
