In the world of commercial towing, more is expected. A job cannot be completed if the equipment cannot handle the workload. That is why CURT developed the Commercial Duty class 5 trailer hitch. Constructed from steel and engineered for power, these class 5 hitches are designed to complement the towing power of full-size, commercial pickup trucks, including diesels and chassis cabs. They can easily handle a variety of oversize trailers, including toy and car haulers, livestock trailers, dumper trailers, large flatbed trailers, large boat trailers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). This particular class 5 hitch features a gross trailer weight capacity of 20,000 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 2,700 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Ford F250 Super Duty, F350 Super Duty and F450 Super Duty (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). All CURT Commercial Duty class 5 hitches feature a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening to accept the strongest of ball mounts and towing accessories. They are perfect for mounting standard ball mounts, pintle mounts, tow hooks and weight distribution hitches as well as winch mounts and cargo carriers. CURT class 5 tow hitches are protected by a co-curing of liquid A-coat and carbide black powder coat finish. They also mount with grade-8 hardware, included with each hitch.
CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing setup. If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness (also called a T-connector) is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your vehicle's electrical system and provides a standard trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular harness provides a 7-way RV blade connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness for certain years of the Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-650 Super Duty (see application info to verify fitment). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power.

Part 56443 is designed for trucks with factory connectors located on the driver-side frame rail or rear-most cross member. Check your vehicle's frame rail and rear cross member for existing connectors that match the appearance of those shown in the manual. If your truck has these factory connectors, the harness is compatible. If you cannot locate matching connectors, your vehicle may not be equipped for this product.
Part 56443 is a custom wiring harness that connects to a 7-way RV blade connector for trailer lighting and braking functions. It routes from the vehicle's factory connectors to a round USCAR plug that mounts to the vehicle, allowing you to connect a trailer with compatible wiring.
You need a flathead screwdriver. Cable ties are also recommended to secure loose wires during routing. A test light, 7-way RV blade tester, or functioning trailer is required to verify proper function after installation.
Yes. Before beginning installation, locate your vehicle's battery in the engine compartment (typically on the passenger side for most gas engines, and on both sides for some gas engines and all diesel engines) and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Fasten this wire down and away from the battery while completing the installation.
The factory connectors are located on the driver-side frame rail or the rear-most cross member of your vehicle. They will resemble the connectors included with your new custom wiring harness. Separate these connectors from their dust covers carefully, taking care not to damage the locking tabs.
Route the harness to the 7-way mounting location on your vehicle. Install the round USCAR plug into the 7-way RV blade connector and mount it to the vehicle. Use cable ties as needed to secure any loose wires along the route. Once mounted, reconnect the negative battery terminal if it was disconnected.
After connecting the 12-volt power wire to the harness and reconnecting the battery, verify that the harness is functioning by attaching the battery and testing with a test light, 7-way RV blade tester, or a functioning trailer. This confirms all connections are working properly before towing.
Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual and the product documentation for the specific rating of part 56443.
If your vehicle is not factory equipped with trailer brakes, you must consult your vehicle's owner's manual to verify that your vehicle can utilize components and wiring for the trailer braking function. The owner's manual will also specify any fuses that need to be installed. Do not assume your vehicle supports trailer braking without checking the owner's manual first.
Perform periodic inspection of all wires and connections to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. Regular maintenance helps prevent electrical failures and ensures safe trailer operation.
The manual provides a wiring location guide for trucks with five reference points: T1 (behind driver side taillight housing), T2 (behind passenger side taillight housing), T3 (behind driver side rear bumper), T4 (behind center of rear bumper fascia), and T5 (behind passenger side rear bumper). These locations help you route the harness correctly during installation.
Part 56443 fits trucks with factory connectors on the driver-side frame rail or rear-most cross member. Check your vehicle for these connectors before purchasing.
You need a flathead screwdriver, cable ties, and a test light or 7-way RV blade tester to verify function after installation.
Yes, disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting installation. Fasten the wire down and away from the battery during the installation process.
Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower. If your vehicle lacks factory trailer brakes, verify in the owner's manual that your vehicle can use trailer braking components.
