Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 300 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit select years of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. Step 1 is to open the rear hatch to expose two taillight trim panels (one near each taillight). Remove the trim panels by using a trim tool to remove two round plastic covers, then use a T-15 Torx bit to remove the two screws from each trim panel.
In Step 2, use a T-15 Torx bit to remove two screws securing the wheel well liner to the rear bumper fascia. These fasteners are located on the bottom rear part of each wheel well. Then carefully remove the plastic wheel well trim starting from the rear-most part working forward until the top edge of the rear fascia is exposed. Remove one bolt from behind the wheel well trim on each side using a 7mm socket.
In Step 3, remove one screw on each side from the bottom of the tailgate/hatch area using a T-15 Torx bit. Remove two push fasteners and two screws from the bottom of the fascia using a T-15 Torx bit and flathead screwdriver. Remove the fascia starting at the wheel wells and gently pull toward the middle of the vehicle. If present, disconnect the wiring harness on the driver side.
In Step 4, first remove the electrical harness from the bumper beam. Use a 15mm socket to remove the six M10 nuts securing the bumper beam to the vehicle. Remove the bumper beam and the metal bracket that supports the wiring harness. Temporarily secure the electrical harness bracket to the vehicle using tape to prevent damage while the hitch is being installed.
In Step 5, raise the hitch and bumper beam into position back onto the existing vehicle studs. Reinstall the wiring harness bracket that was removed in Step 4. Secure the hitch, bumper beam, and bracket using the six M10 nuts removed during Step 4. Reconnect the wiring harness to the bumper beam. Torque the M10 hardware to 32 ft lbs.
According to the trim diagram in Step 6, mark and trim the lower fascia with a center alignment on the vehicle. The reference measurements are 1-1/8" and 8-3/8". Use the trim diagram as a reference guide when marking out the trim area.

Locate the grommet behind the taillight where the vehicle's taillight wiring passes from inside the cabin to the taillight. Remove the grommet and cut a slit large enough to route the new custom wiring end through. Route the custom wiring end with the brown and red wires out through the grommet opening and through the slit in the grommet. Reseat the grommet and use the provided sealant to seal the cut in the grommet and around all wires.
At the rear of the vehicle below the threshold, locate the rubber grommet in the access hole on the driver side. Remove and cut the grommet as described in Step 4. Route the green and yellow wires and the 4-flat out of the vehicle through this opening. Do not seal with silicone at this point. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties, leaving them loose enough for adjustment as needed.
From under the vehicle on the driver side, locate the taillight housing. Separate the connectors from the taillight housing carefully, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Install the T-connector with the yellow wire to this housing. Insert the custom wiring end between the separated connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Route the green wire and 4-flat to the passenger side of the vehicle. Secure with cable ties but leave loose enough for adjustment as needed. Route the 4-flat near the receiver hitch in the center and then route the green wire to the passenger side. Locate the taillight housing and repeat Step 6 with the green wire, connecting it to the passenger side taillight housing.
Mount the converter box using the provided double-sided tape. Ground the white wire to the vehicle body using the provided screw (drill a 3/32" hole if necessary).
