However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Ford Mustang (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang and Mercury Grand Marquis (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Curt hitch 11041 is designed for 1994–2004 Ford Mustang V6 models only. It does not fit GT models. Confirm your vehicle year and engine size before purchasing.
The gross load capacity is 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, as that is the limiting factor. Check your vehicle's owner manual for the final towing limit.
Hitch 11041 is designed for use with Curt ball mount D-21 (part number 45521).
The kit includes: 2× M10×1.5 grade 10.9 hex head cap screws (45 mm), 2× 7/16"-14 UNC grade 8 carriage bolts (1-1/2"), 2× 7/16"-14 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts, 2× 3/8" washers, 2× 0.188" × 1.50" × 2.00" round hole spacers, 2× 0.250" × 1.00" × 2.00" square hole spacers, and 1× 7/16" fishwire.
You will need a 7/16" carbide drill bit (the manual specifically notes bumper material is very tough and difficult to drill), a 1/4" drill bit, a 1" drill bit or hole saw, a wrench or socket set for M10 and 7/16" fasteners, and a torque wrench. A fishwire or similar tool is needed to route the carriage bolts through the bumper access holes.
The manual does not explicitly state whether the bumper must be removed. However, the installation requires drilling holes in the bottom of the bumper and fishwiring bolts through access holes, which may be easier with the bumper removed. Contact Curt Technical Support at 1-877-287-8634 for clarification on whether bumper removal is necessary for your specific vehicle.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill two 7/16" holes in the bottom of the bumper (using a carbide drill bit, as bumper material is very tough), one 1/4" hole, and one 1" access hole inboard of each hitch tab. On some models, a rectangular hole may already exist and the 1" access hole will not need to be drilled.
Use a 7/16" carbide drill bit. The manual specifically notes that bumper material is very tough and difficult to drill, and a carbide bit is recommended for this reason.
The 1/4" hole and 1" access hole are used to fishwire the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacer blocks through the bumper. The 1" hole is sized to allow a 1 × 2 block to pass through. On some models, an existing rectangular hole can be used instead of drilling the 1" access hole.
1. Remove bumper bracket bolts from the bottom of each frame rail (do not reuse these fasteners). 2. Raise the hitch into position and install M10 bolt assemblies through the hitch into existing weldnuts on the frame; hand tighten only. 3. Drill two 7/16" holes in the bottom of the bumper using the hitch tabs as guides. 4. Drill a 1/4" hole and 1" access hole in the bumper inboard of each hitch tab. 5. Fishwire a 7/16" carriage bolt and spacer block through each access hole, then attach a flat washer, lock washer, and nut. 6. Check that the receiver tube is level; add spacers between the hitch side arm and frame rail if needed, then tighten all bolts. 7. Torque M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft. and 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb.-ft.
The M10 bolts are installed through the hitch into existing weldnuts on the vehicle frame. They are hand tightened initially (step 2) and then torqued to 45 lb.-ft. in the final step. The M10 shipping nuts should be discarded.
Spacers are provided to level the receiver tube if variations in bumper position make it necessary. After checking that the receiver tube is level (step 6), add spacers between the hitch side arm and frame rail as needed before final tightening of all bolts. Two round hole spacers (0.188" × 1.50" × 2.00") and two square hole spacers (0.250" × 1.00" × 2.00") are included.
Torque M10 fasteners to 45 lb.-ft.
Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb.-ft. This applies to the 7/16" carriage bolts used in the bumper.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. The hitch is rated for trailer use only without auxiliary support.
After installation, verify that the receiver tube is level. Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is especially important before towing.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended.
1994–2004 Ford Mustang V6 only (not GT models).
2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Yes. Drill two 7/16" holes, one 1/4" hole, and one 1" access hole in the bumper. Use a 7/16" carbide drill bit for the main holes.
7/16" carbide drill bit, 1/4" and 1" drill bits, wrench/socket set for M10 and 7/16" fasteners, torque wrench, and fishwire.
M10 fasteners: 45 lb.-ft. 7/16" fasteners: 59 lb.-ft.
Non-trailer loads must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to do so voids the warranty.
Part 55326 is designed for Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang (excluding Cobra SVT 99-04), and Mercury Grand Marquis. If your vehicle is one of these models, it will fit. For other vehicles or to confirm fitment on your specific year and model, check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer.
The Curt 55326 is a custom wiring harness designed to connect your vehicle's taillight wiring to a 4-flat trailer connector. It allows you to safely tow a trailer by routing power from your vehicle's taillights through the harness to the trailer lights.
You will need a panel trim removal tool. This tool helps you safely remove the trunk scuff panel without damaging the alignment tabs. No other specialized tools are required for the basic installation.
Open the vehicle trunk. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. Remove the plastic wing nuts securing the felt trunk liner. Pull back on the felt liner to locate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors behind the taillight housing.
Separate the vehicle taillight connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end (yellow wire for driver side, green wire for passenger side) between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on both the driver and passenger sides.
Route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk when in use. When not in use, roll it up and store it in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk.
Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties. This helps prevent tangling, damage, and ensures a neat installation.
The harness includes cable ties for securing loose wires and a 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion of the connector when not in use.
Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating, and potential fire. Consult your vehicle owner's manual or contact the vehicle manufacturer for your specific tow vehicle lamp load rating.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. This confirms that the harness is correctly installed and all connections are secure before towing.
Yes. After routing and securing the wiring harness, reinstall all items removed during installation, including the felt trunk liner, plastic wing nuts, and scuff panel. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
The harness has a yellow wire end and a green wire end. The yellow wire end connects to the driver side taillight housing (P3 location), and the green wire end connects to the passenger side taillight housing (P4 location).
The Curt 55326 fits Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Mustang (excluding Cobra SVT 99-04), and Mercury Grand Marquis. Check your vehicle owner's manual or contact the manufacturer to confirm your specific model year.
