1. Remove spare tire and plug from trunk pan. 2. Remove plastic cover on passenger side and return to owner. 3. Center hitch and trim passenger side fascia. 4. Secure hitch through existing hole with 1/2" hardware and CM-SP4 spacer; drill 17/32" hole in trunk pan and install remaining hardware. 5. Drill two holes in bumper beam and secure with 1/2" hardware and CM-SP4 spacers (wagon models require fishwiring bumper hardware through bumper ends). 6. Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft and seal trunk pan holes with silicone sealant. 7. Return spare tire.
Yes. The CM-SP4 spacers (0.250 × 1.50 × 3.00" square hole spacers) are used with the 1/2" hardware. Four spacers are included in the kit and are installed at the trunk pan hole and bumper beam holes.
Fishwiring is required only for Wagon models. The manual notes that wagon models require fishwiring bumper hardware through the ends of the bumper. Sedan models do not require this step.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 lb-ft.
Yes. After torquing all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft, seal the trunk pan holes with silicone sealant to prevent water intrusion.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This is an ongoing maintenance requirement.
