Yes, drilling is required. The installation procedure requires you to drill four mounting holes using the hitch as a template: one hole on the driver side mounting plate, one hole on the passenger side mounting plate, and two additional holes as indicated in the installation steps. The passenger side mounting plate aligns with an existing hole in the tow hook loop bracket.
1. Lift the hitch into position, aligning the slot in the passenger side mounting plate with the existing hole in the tow hook loop bracket. Loosely install fasteners. 2. Position the hitch level and square to the vehicle. Use the hitch as a template to drill holes for the driver side mounting plate and install fasteners. 3. Use the hitch as a template to drill the hole for the passenger side mounting plate and install fasteners. 4. Torque all 1/2 inch fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. and all 3/8 inch fasteners to 45 lb.-ft.
