ARIES 3" side bars add a custom look and dependable footing to your truck, Jeep or SUV. They feature a classic style, a strong design and non-skid step pads. ARIES nerf bars are all made vehicle-specific for a custom, no-drill fit, and they are available in multiple finish options. This set of nerf bars is constructed from 304 stainless steel with a polished finish. Our 304 stainless steel is a true stainless with high nickel content, offering better corrosion resistance and a long-lasting finish. The polish is a triple application, resulting in a mirror-like shine to complement your vehicle. ARIES 3" round side bars also come with high-strength steel brackets and non-skid step pads. The mounting brackets -- as well as the side bars and step pads -- are custom-designed for specific makes and models to allow the nerf bars to contour to the lines of your vehicle. This ensures easy, no-drill installation and the strength necessary to provide solid footing. This particular set of custom nerf bars fits specific years of the Toyota Highlander (see application info to verify fitment). ARIES 3" round side bars also come with non-skid step pads made of polypropylene. These wide, custom-positioned step pads feature a textured pattern and cover a wide portion of the tubes to be more comfortable and high-traction, even in wet conditions.

The ARIES 3" Round Polished Stainless Side Bars, Select Toyota Highlander Step Nerf Bar Kit (Part #BBDR202019-2) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes. Curt part numbers 202019 and 202019-2 are designed for 08-15 Toyota Highlander models in both gas and hybrid versions. The manual notes that due to different models and years of fitment, the exact area to cut on plastic splash guards may vary, so you should hold the brackets in position on your vehicle to determine the appropriate cutting area for your specific model year.
The kit includes: 1 driver/left sidebar, 1 passenger/right sidebar, 4 mounting brackets (driver/left front and rear, passenger/right front and rear), 2 bolt plates (12-1.75mm x 35mm), 2 T-block bolts (10mm), 2 nut plates (6mm), 8 hex bolts (8-1.25mm x 25mm), 2 hex bolts (6-1.0mm x 30mm), 2 hex nuts (12mm), 2 hex nuts (10mm), 8 hex nuts (8mm), 8 lock washers (8mm), 2 lock washers (6mm), 2 lock washers (10mm), 2 lock washers (12mm), 8 flat washers (8mm x 24mm OD x 2mm), 2 flat washers (6mm x 22mm x 2mm), 2 flat washers (10mm x 34mm x 3mm), and 2 flat washers (12mm x 24mm OD x 3mm).
Yes, cutting is required. You must cut openings in the plastic splash guards to clear the mounting brackets. The front plastic cover requires a 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" opening, and the middle splash guard requires a 2" x 3-1/2" opening. However, the manual states that due to different models and years of fitment, these dimensions are for reference only. You should hold the brackets in position on your vehicle to determine the appropriate area to cut, and cut as little as possible for best fit.
The manual mentions using a hack saw or utility knife to cut the plastic splash guard openings. No other tools are specified in the instructions.
Yes. You must temporarily remove the front and middle section of the plastic splash guard on the driver side to access the mounting locations. After marking and cutting the necessary openings, you reinstall the splash guards using the factory fasteners before attaching the brackets and sidebar.
Installation follows this sequence: (1) Remove and inspect all parts; (2) Remove driver-side plastic splash guards; (3) Install driver-side front mounting bracket using factory holes and fasteners, leaving hardware loose; (4) Mark bracket location, remove bracket, cut splash guard openings, and reinstall splash guards; (5) Reinstall driver-side front bracket; (6) Install driver-side rear mounting bracket at the rear floor panel, leaving hardware loose; (7) Position driver sidebar onto both brackets and attach with bolts, then tighten all hardware; (8) Repeat the entire process for the passenger side. The passenger-side splash guard is one piece rather than two sections.
The front mounting location uses two factory holes: one closest to the tie-down loop (where you insert the 12mm bolt plate), and a second hole at the point where the cross member joins the frame rail (where you insert the 6mm nut plate). The manual indicates these locations in Figure 2 and notes that you should remove the rubber plug from the hole closest to the tie-down loop before inserting the bolt plate.
The rear mounting hole is located in the rear floor panel. You must remove the rubber grommet from this oval-shaped factory hole and insert a 10mm T-block bolt. The T-block bolt is inserted block-up into the hole, then rotated 90 degrees so the block is supported across the oval hole.
Leave all mounting bracket fasteners loose during initial installation. After you position the sidebar onto both the front and rear mounting brackets and attach it with the 8mm bolts, lock washers, and flat washers, then tighten all hardware at that time.
Each sidebar is attached to the mounting brackets using 4 bolts. These are 8-1.25mm x 25mm hex bolts, each with an 8mm lock washer and an 8mm flat washer (8mm x 24mm OD x 2mm).
The front mounting bracket is attached to the 12mm bolt plate using 1 bolt assembly consisting of: 1 12mm flat washer, 1 12mm lock washer, and 1 12mm hex nut.
The front mounting bracket is attached to the 6mm nut plate using: 1 6mm x 30mm hex bolt, 1 6mm lock washer, and 1 6mm flat washer (6mm x 22mm x 2mm).
The rear mounting bracket is attached to the 10mm T-block bolt using: 1 10mm flat washer, 1 10mm lock washer, and 1 10mm hex nut.
Yes. The driver-side splash guard consists of two sections (front and middle), while the passenger-side splash guard is one piece. You cut the same opening locations on the passenger-side splash guard as on the driver-side, or hold the brackets in place to determine the appropriate area to cut.
Wax the product after installing to protect your investment. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these could damage the finish. For stainless steel sidebars, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used for cleaning. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap for cleaning.
Perform periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight.
