Sometimes side bars, nerf bars and running boards just aren't the right fit for the off-roader. When your vehicle is beefed up and built out the way it was born to be, you need a step up from ordinary. ARIES Rocker Step running boards are the ideal side accessory for the off-road-style truck, Jeep or SUV, featuring extra protection for your rocker panels, a convenient 3" wide step up and enough ground clearance to allow you to hold nothing back. While many rocker panel protectors are simple steel panels or tubes, the ARIES Rocker Step is something more. In addition to its all-steel construction, it has a wide, flat profile that provides two key advantages. First, it offers a convenient, comfortable step up into your vehicle The double-tube layout and welded top plate create a sturdy, 3" wide stepping surface. Second, the flat design offers added ground clearance. Unlike some side bars that are mounted down and away from the vehicle, ARIES Rocker Step running boards are set high enough to clear brush, boulders and other off-road debris. They also feature a durable E-coat and textured black powder coat finish to resist rust and hide scratches and grime. Mounting ARIES Rocker Step running boards is fast and easy. They come with vehicle-specific mounting brackets, pre-welded into place, to provide reliable footing and a custom fit on your vehicle. This particular set of Rocker Step running boards fits specific years of the Jeep Wrangler (see application info to verify fitment). The brackets install using pre-existing mounting locations to eliminate the need for drilling and cut down on installation time. ARIES Rocker Steps are sold in pairs for the driver and passenger side and come with all necessary mounting hardware.

You will need: a torque wrench, 13mm socket, 16mm socket, socket extension, socket wrench, 16mm wrench, drill, 1/8" drill bit, 7/16" drill bit, and a flathead screwdriver. A torque wrench is essential because fasteners must be tightened to specific torque values during installation.
Yes. Step 8 explicitly states 'With assistance, place the passenger-side rocker step on the rear mounting bracket.' At least one additional person is required during this step of the installation.
The installation is rated as 'Moderate' difficulty. The process involves removing factory bolts, drilling holes, installing mounting brackets, and assembling the rocker steps with multiple fasteners. Proper tools and assistance are required.
Yes. You must drill two holes in the rear mounting location using a 1/8" drill bit first, then enlarge them with a 7/16" drill bit. The manual notes that holes may need to be reamed larger for proper fit. These holes are permanent modifications to the vehicle.
Drill two holes using a 1/8" drill bit first, then enlarge them with a 7/16" drill bit. The manual notes that holes may need to be reamed larger for proper fit. Use the passenger-side nut plate to mark the exact locations before drilling.
Yes. You must pull back the rear plastic inner fender liner to expose the end of the channel on the body where the rear nut plate is installed. After installation, the fender liner is pulled back over the rear mounting location and the plastic plugs are re-installed.
M8 bolts must be tightened to 7 ft.-lbs. This applies to the two M8 bolts securing the front mounting bracket to the vehicle body.
M10 bolts must be tightened to 16 ft.-lbs. This applies to all M10 fasteners used throughout the installation, including those securing the rear mounting bracket, bolt plate, and rocker step connections.
Installation begins on the passenger side: remove factory bolts and plastic plugs, pull back the inner fender liner, mark and drill two holes, install the nut plate, attach the front mounting bracket (snug only), install the bolt plate (snug only), attach the rear mounting bracket (snug only), place the rocker step with assistance (snug only), then tighten all fasteners in sequence. Adjust and level the rocker step, then repeat the entire process on the driver side.
Fasteners are snugged (tightened by hand or wrench without full torque) to hold components in place during assembly. This allows you to align all mounting points before final tightening. Final tightening to proper torque specifications occurs only after all components are positioned and aligned.
Yes. Steps 10 and 11 explicitly instruct you to 'Adjust and level the rocker step to the desired location' before final tightening. After adjustments are made, tighten the fasteners between the rocker step and both the front and rear mounting brackets.
