The BAKFlip is a hard fold tonneau cover for Chevy and GM trucks that provides weather protection and security for truck bed cargo. It folds open toward the cab for access and can be folded up and secured with straps for driving, or closed flat over the bed. The cover features hinged panels, side rails, latches, and prop rods to hold it in the open position.
The BAKFlip 318S0067 is designed for Chevy and GM trucks. The manual specifically mentions compatibility with 07-13 Silverado/Sierra and 19+ Silverado/Sierra models (including those with Multi-Pro tailgate). For a complete list of compatible vehicles and bed lengths, contact RealTruck at 818-365-9000 or support@bakindustries.com, as the manual does not provide a comprehensive fitment chart.
Yes, the BAKFlip is compatible with drop-in bed liners. If your truck has a drop-in bed liner, the bulkhead seal (which is included on select models) is not needed.
Yes, the BAKFlip is compatible with powered opening or closing tailgates. However, you must ensure the tailgate functions properly with the cover closed. If needed, adjust the cover toward the truck cab to maintain proper tailgate operation.
You will need: scissors or utility knife, isopropyl alcohol, 1/2" wrench or socket, Phillips screwdriver, and a 5/8" drill bit with drill. A calibrated torque wrench is also required to tighten fasteners to the specified 10 ft/lbs torque value.
The kit includes: 1 passenger side rail, 1 driver side rail, 1 hard fold cover, 1 bulkhead seal (on select models), 6-8 rubber filler strips (on select models), 2 cover retainer clamps, 4 clamps (or 6 on 19+ Silverado/Sierra with Multi-Pro tailgate), 2 buckle ends, 4 screws, 4 nutserts, 2 gaskets, 2 drain tubes, 3 D-shaped cab bumpers (on select models), 3 oversized cab bumpers (on select models), 2 stake pocket clamps, and 2 stake pocket covers (for 07-13 Silverado/Sierra only).
Yes. The bulkhead seal (D), rubber filler strips (E), D-shaped cab bumpers (M), and oversized cab bumpers (N) are included on select make/models only. Stake pocket covers (P) are only for 07-13 Silverado/Sierra applications. The number of clamps varies: 4 clamps on standard models, but 6 clamps on 19+ Silverado/Sierra with Multi-Pro tailgate. If parts are missing or damaged, contact RealTruck at 818-365-9000 Mon-Fri 8:30 am–6:00 pm EST or email support@bakindustries.com.
Clean all areas where the bed cover mounts to the truck. Remove dirt and debris with soap and water, then clean with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease. Allow the surface to dry completely before installation. This is critical for proper adhesion of seals and bumpers, and for correct clamp engagement.
The installation sequence is: 1) Install bulkhead seal (if included); 2) Install rubber filler strips (if included); 3) Attach drain tubes to side rails; 4) Install passenger side rail with clamps; 5) Install driver side rail with clamps; 6) Install stake pocket clamps (if applicable); 7) Install stake pocket covers (07-13 models only); 8) Prepare and install buckle ends; 9) Place cover on rails; 10) Install cab bumpers; 11) Check latch engagement; 12) Position and tighten cover retainer clamps; 13) Unfold cover and adjust fitment; 14) Final tightening of retainer clamps.
Position each side rail flush with the top edge of the truck bed rail. The end with the drain tube should point toward the cab. The rails must be square (90° angle) to the truck bed rails to allow the rear latch to engage properly. For best fit, the rails should be level with the bed cap and not angled up or down. Push the rails all the way toward the cab and bulkhead before tightening clamps.
For the passenger side rail, place the front clamp 6-8 inches from the bulkhead and the center clamp to the rear of the prop rod. For stake pocket clamps, position them near the tailgate where the stake pocket is located on both sides of the bed. All clamps should be inserted as high as possible on the rail and loosely tightened initially to ensure proper engagement before final tightening.
If a bulkhead seal is included in your kit, clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Clean again with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease and allow to dry. Peel the backing and adhere the seal from one bulkhead edge to the other. Remove any excess with scissors or a utility knife. Apply pressure evenly across the entire seal to ensure proper adhesion. If your truck has a drop-in bed liner, no seal is needed.
If rubber filler strips are included, clean the rail with soap and water, then with isopropyl alcohol, and allow to dry. Peel the backing and adhere the strips between the truck plastic bed cap and truck metal rail. Place one strip 6-8 inches from the bulkhead, place the rear strip as close to the tailgate as possible, and center the middle strip appropriately.
Attach the drain tubes to the front of the side rails. The opposite end of the drain tubes can be placed behind a bed liner, through bed plugs, or by drilling a 5/8" hole in the bulkhead to divert water out of the truck bed via the rail.
First, peel off the adhesive liner of the gasket. Adhere the gasket to the underside of each buckle end. Position the buckle ends with the open side facing the bed cover panel. Use a Phillips screwdriver to install the two buckles into the pre-drilled holes on the front header panel with the provided screws and nutserts inserted from the backside. Tighten by hand only—do not use a screw gun.
Before placing the cover on the vehicle, slide two cover retainer clamps into the track on the underside of the cover near the cab and confirm they fit properly. Set the cover in the folded position on the side rails toward the cab of the truck. Confirm the cover is evenly spaced between the rails.
With the bed cover in the folded position, clean the area where the bumpers will go with soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Clean again with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease and allow to dry. Install the D-shaped or oversized cab bumpers along the top edge of the cover where it meets the truck cab. Apply pressure to all bumpers to ensure good adhesion.
Confirm the retainer clamps are positioned around the side rails correctly. Tighten the retainer clamps by turning them clockwise until the lock washer is secure. If the cover needs repositioning after unfolding, loosen the clamps, shift the cover until it is centered side to side and front to back on the truck bed, then re-tighten the clamps clockwise.
Unfold the cover toward the tailgate and confirm each panel is centered side to side and front to back on the truck bed. The rear edge of the cover and tailgate seal should rest on top of the tailgate. For proper sealing, the tail panel will overlap by 0.5". If your truck has a powered tailgate, ensure it functions properly with the cover closed and adjust the cover toward the truck cab if needed.
All clamps must be tightened to 10 ft/lbs of torque using a 1/2" wrench or socket. Do not over-tighten. Over-tightening can cause the rails to lean down and may damage the cover. Use a calibrated torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
The buckle end screws should be tightened by hand only using a Phillips screwdriver. Do not use a screw gun. Securely tighten by hand only.
A 5/8" drill bit is required. It is used to drill a hole in the bulkhead for routing the drain tube to divert water out of the truck bed.
To open the cover: lower the tailgate and pull the cable on either side. While pulling the cable, lift the panel toward the cab. To fold the cover up: fold it open and lift it until vertical or past 90 degrees toward the cab, then release and position the prop rod firmly against the vertical plate on the underside of the cover. Slide the prop rod locks downward and tighten the knobs to lock it in position on both sides. To drive with the cover folded up, use the straps and buckles provided: attach the buckle at the bulkhead, pull the strap to take up slack, and secure the cover.
Check if the latches are hitting or not engaging the side rails by releasing each latch. If adjustments are needed, use a screwdriver to partially pry open the tab on the latch housing (located on the opposite side of the housing on the passenger side) and slide the housing away from the latch assembly. Loosen the screws and move the latch bracket to adjust. Re-tighten the screws and slide the latch housing back on.
Wear protective gloves during installation to avoid sharp edges. Be aware that surfaces may become hot in high temperatures or extended sun exposure—allow time for the cover to cool before contact. Always check surface temperature before use. Keep hands, fingers, and other body parts clear of moving parts when operating the cover. Operate the cover slowly and with caution. Never allow anyone to be inside the truck bed when the cover is closed, as there is no manual release mechanism from inside. Do not close the cover over cargo taller than the bed depth, and never force the cover closed.
No. Do not place objects on or against the cover or framework. Do not tie cargo to the truck bed cover or framework. Do not operate the vehicle with objects on top of the cover. The cover is designed to protect cargo inside the bed, not to support external loads.
Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover on the vehicle. If towing from the rear is required, the cover must be removed from the vehicle and properly stored.
No. Never allow children or pets to occupy the truck bed with the cover in the fully closed position. There is no manual release mechanism from inside the bed, creating an entrapment hazard.
The BAKFlip provides weather protection and security for truck bed cargo. However, the cover is not airtight, so special care is required to keep cargo clean and dry. Additionally, truck bed covers will not prevent theft of contents inside the truck bed.
After installation, confirm that the cover is evenly spaced between the rails, the latches are properly engaging the side rails, the retainer clamps are positioned correctly and tightened clockwise, the cover is centered side to side and front to back on the truck bed, the rear edge of the cover rests on the tailgate with a 0.5" overlap, and the cover is securely latched. Check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after a week of driving following installation and periodically thereafter.
Clean the cover with mild automotive soap and water only. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they may dull the finish. Do not use chemicals and fluids such as insect repellents, oils, solvents, and lubricants, as they could damage the rubber hinges and seals and void the warranty. Always read the ingredients of any cleaning product to ensure it is safe for use with rubber. Periodically check that the cover is securely attached to the truck bed and working as intended. Inspect all hardware such as clamps and cover retainer clamps to ensure they are properly installed and working as intended. Regularly inspect and service each panel latch by cleaning away excess dirt or grime and ensuring all latches move freely and properly engage the side rail.
Check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after a week of driving following installation or re-installation of the cover. Periodically inspect all hardware thereafter. Covers that are used at high frequency or subject to rough roadways and/or heavy vibration conditions may require adjustment more frequently.
The BAKFlip carries a limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship. MX4 and F1 models are covered for five (5) years from the original date of purchase. G2 and FIBERMAX models are covered for three (3) years from the original date of purchase. The warranty is only to the initial owner and is not transferable. Warranty registration must be on file and proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) is required. Register your warranty online at https://realtruck.com/bak-warranty. The warranty is void if the product has been damaged in an accident, due to neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation, improper servicing, or failure to follow care and use instructions.
The BAKFlip 318S0067 is designed for Chevy and GM trucks, including 07-13 and 19+ Silverado/Sierra models. For complete fitment confirmation including bed length and specific model year, contact RealTruck at 818-365-9000 or support@bakindustries.com.
You will need: scissors or utility knife, isopropyl alcohol, 1/2" wrench or socket, Phillips screwdriver, 5/8" drill bit with drill, and a calibrated torque wrench for tightening fasteners to 10 ft/lbs.
Yes. Clean all mounting areas with soap and water to remove dirt and debris, then clean with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease. Allow surfaces to dry completely before installation.
Drilling may be required only if you need to route the drain tube through the bulkhead. A 5/8" drill bit is used to create this hole. Drilling is not required if the drain tube is routed behind a bed liner or through existing bed plugs.
No. Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover installed. If rear towing is required, the cover must be removed and properly stored.
Clean with mild automotive soap and water only. Avoid abrasive cleaners and chemicals such as insect repellents, oils, solvents, and lubricants, as they can damage rubber hinges and seals.
Improper engagement of the clamps is the most common cause. Loosen the clamp nut and adjust the clamp(s) until you have full engagement of both sections of the clamp. When properly engaged, an audible click will be heard. Over-tightening the bolt can also contribute to tilted rails. Do not over-torque the bolt—tighten to 10 ft/lbs only.
Water intrusion can result from several issues: 1) Retaining clamps are not tight or not properly engaged to the side rails—check and re-tighten. 2) Bulkhead seal is not in place or the cover is not resting on it—verify seal installation. 3) Latches are not fully engaged to the side rails—check and adjust latches if needed. 4) Side rails are not installed flush with the top of the bed rail—verify rail positioning.
The cable may be pinched in or under the cable guide extrusion. Loosen the three screws on the center cable cover (bar) located in the middle of the panel. Slightly lift up on the cable guide extrusion. Pull on both sides of the cable to free it.
The seal may be wavy when removed from the box. This is normal. Allow ample sunlight for the seal to lay flat and relax. The seal will straighten out over time with exposure to sunlight.
