Install the foam block filler pads (K) with the adhesive end facing up as far forward as possible against the cab end bed wall/bulkhead, then push upward into place as far as possible. Do this on both the passenger and driver sides. These pads help position the cover correctly at the front of the bed.
Tighten the cab bumpers to 7.5 Nm (6 ft-lbs). The cab bumper is placed in the bulkhead valley with the backing removed before tightening.
Tighten the clamp kit screws to 7.5 Nm (6 ft-lbs). This applies whether you are mounting a cargo rail through the lower hole in the S clamp or securing the strap assembly to the first S clamp near the cab end.
Clean the top of the bulkhead, peel the backing off the bulkhead seal (I), and adhere it from one bed rail edge to the other. Remove any excess with scissors or a utility knife. If your truck has a drop-in bedliner, no seal is needed.
First, align the front vinyl edge of the hard rolled cover with the front edge of the side rails (not the rubber seal). Then verify that a gap of approximately 1/8" (3.2mm) remains on both sides between the edge of the side rail and the hard rolled cover. This spacing is necessary for the locking side rail to secure the cover. Adjust the cover side to side at the front and/or back if the side gaps are not even, then firmly hand-tighten the star knobs.
When correctly installed, the vinyl edges of the hard rolled cover will align squarely with the side rails in all four corners. The latch assembly will align with the side rail locking levers at the tailgate on both sides. The slam latch must hit the locking levers squarely and on both sides. If latches do not fully engage, loosen the star knobs and make side-to-side adjustments as needed.
Hand tighten the star knobs only. Do not overtighten. After the hard rolled cover has been aligned, roll the cover open and tighten the star knobs on both sides to secure the cover, then recheck that the cover operates correctly.
With the hard rolled cover rolled open, remove the paper backing from the D-shaped bumpers (M), clean the surfaces where they touch the cover, and adhere the bumpers to the cover slats. Position them so that they prevent the hard rolled cover from contacting the cab. The straps will secure the hard rolled cover away from the cab and glass.
The strap end inserts into the hard rolled cover clasp and turns to lock. Pull up on the strap end to tighten. Always hook the straps on both sides. When driving with the cover open, roll the cover forward, twist and insert the clips into the cover clasps, ensure both strap clamps are fully inserted, and pull on the end of the strap to tighten.
The cover must be either completely flat and secure with both rear latches fully engaged and in the closed position, or completely rolled up and secured at the cab with both provided straps. Do not drive with the cover in a partially open position. Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover on the truck.
The truck bed cover must be free of all foreign materials including snow and ice before opening the rail top. Remove all foreign matter before rolling the cover.
Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover on your truck. If towing from the rear is required, the cover must be removed from the vehicle and properly stored.
Use standard automotive soap and water with a soft sponge or cloth. Shammy dry to keep the finish polished and brilliant. Do not use wax, as it tends to fill in cracks and crevices and may affect the textured panel finish. Do not use harsh cleaners or abrasives.
Periodically inspect and service the latches on each panel. Clean away any excess dirt or grime and lubricate with silicone spray. Ensure the latches move freely in and out to properly engage the side rail and provide proper performance with optimum security. Be careful not to overspray the cover and wipe away any excess around the latch location.
Check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after a week of driving following installation (or re-installation) of the cover and periodically thereafter. Covers that are used with high frequency or that are subject to vibrations and impact from rough roadways can cause the cover to require adjustment.
