Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Dodge Hornet (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

Required tools include: ratchet, socket extensions, 1/4", 7/8", 7mm, and 10mm sockets, die grinder with cutoff wheel, masking tape, straight screwdriver, plug fastener pry bar, torque wrench, tape measure, T-25 and T-30 Torx bits, utility knife, and safety glasses. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
Yes. A die grinder with cutoff wheel is required to trim the bumper cover. In Step 12, you must use the die grinder to cut a 3-3/8" section from the bottom center of the bumper cover to provide clearance for the hitch.
The kit includes: 4 round hole spacers (0.25" × 1" × 1.5"), 4 flange nuts (M8 × 1.25"), 2 fishwire tools (9/16"), 2 square hole spacers (0.313" × 1.25" × 2" 9/16"), 2 carriage bolts (9/16"-12), and 2 hex flange nuts (9/16"-12).
You must remove the bumper cover and both taillights. The bumper cover removal requires removing multiple screws, push pins, and fasteners from the sides, bottom, and rear hatch area, then unclipping wiring connectors. The taillights are removed by unclipping their plastic covers, removing two T-30 Torx screws, and disconnecting the wiring connector.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Since taillight wiring is involved, consult your vehicle's service manual or contact CURT product support at 877-287-8634 for guidance.
The fishwire tool is used to guide the 9/16" carriage bolts and square hole spacers through the vehicle frame rail from the access hole to the mounting hole. You thread the coiled end of the fishwire through the mounting hole and out the access hole, pass it through the spacer, thread the bolt into the coil, kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt, then pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt back through the frame. This prevents loss of hardware inside the frame rail.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing frame access holes and mounting holes on your vehicle. However, you must use a die grinder with cutoff wheel to trim a 3-3/8" section from the bottom center of the bumper cover (measured 4" from the edge and 1-11/16" to each side) to provide clearance for the hitch.
You must trim a 3-3/8" wide section from the bottom center of the bumper cover. Measure 4" from the edge of the bumper, locate the center of the bottom edge, then measure 1-11/16" to each side. Use a die grinder with cutoff wheel to remove this section. Loosely fit the cover to check clearance and trim more if needed.
Torque all M8 fasteners to 45 ft-lbs and all 9/16" fasteners to 130 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening during installation.
All M8 fasteners must be torqued to 45 ft-lbs.
All 9/16" fasteners must be torqued to 130 ft-lbs.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required.
