You will need a ratchet, socket set, hammer, and punch.
The kit includes one acme threaded rod and one rod coupling nut. These components are assembled into the lower jack assembly during installation.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, as this may result in separation, damage to the 5th wheel hitch, vehicle, trailer, and/or cause serious injury or death. Additionally, never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling, as improperly coupled trailers can separate and drop without notice. Do not expose hands, body parts or clothing anywhere between the truck and trailer.
Remove the two fasteners securing the top cover to the jack assembly. Set the fasteners and cover aside for reinstallation.
After removing the top cover, use a rag to wipe away excess grease. Using a hammer and punch, remove the retaining pin securing the handle to the assembly. With the pin removed, pull the handle out and set it aside.
You must remove: the top cover and its two fasteners, the handle retaining pin and handle, the handle shaft and top gear, both handle bushings, the large gear and its retaining pin, and finally the outer housing of the jack to expose the four lock nuts securing the acme threaded rod and rod nut.
Insert the 19284 acme threaded rod (#1) and rod nut (#2) assembly into the lower jack assembly, then reassemble the jack by reversing steps 1 through 6 in reverse order. This means reinstalling the outer housing, large gear and retaining pin, handle bushings, handle and retaining pin, handle shaft and top gear, and finally the top cover with its two fasteners.
Wax the product after installing to protect it. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives. For cleaning, use only mild automotive detergent. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or similar products that may damage the finish.
