Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom Class 3 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV.
This particular Class 3 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Nissan Kicks (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 2" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount.
This Class 3 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a Class 3 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc).
Though CURT Class 3 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each Class 3 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. The installation is rated as Moderate difficulty. This rating is based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on installer expertise, vehicle condition, and availability of proper tools and equipment.
Step 1 is to remove the seven (7) fasteners from the bottom of the center insert on the rear bumper.
Carefully push in the tabs from the back of the panel while pushing the panel away from the vehicle. This is Step 3 of the installation process.
Using a 13mm socket, remove the bottom bolt and middle bolt located towards the center of each bumper beam support. Also remove the top bolt toward the center of the vehicle on the passenger side only. This is Step 4.
Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it with the M8 bolts and conical-toothed washers. Do not fully tighten at this stage. This is Step 5.
Torque the M8 bolts to 23 ft-lbs using a torque wrench.
A 13mm socket is required to torque the M8-1.25 x 30mm bolts to 23 ft-lbs.
After torquing the M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs, reinstall the lower center panel by following Steps 1–3 in reverse order.
The manual shows conical-toothed washer orientation in the assembly diagram on page 2, with the washer positioned between the hex bolt and the hitch side plate. The diagram indicates front and rear orientation; refer to the assembly diagram for correct positioning.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity when using the hitch.

Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
