This CURT hitch is an accessory mount, ideal for adding a cargo carrier or bike rack onto your vehicle. It is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the BMW iX (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a tongue weight capacity of 150 lbs. (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). This hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety.

Yes. You must temporarily remove four rear underbody panels. Remove them in this order: the forward-most panel first, then the middle panel, and finally the two outer panels. All panels are reinstalled after final torque in Step 6.
Yes. You must trim the lower bumper panel. The manual provides a trim diagram showing cuts of 3-1/4", 2-3/8", and 3" for reference. Use a rotary tool with a cut-off wheel to make these cuts.
Yes. In Step 2, clean the threads of the two inner-most bumper beam studs and the top stud on the outside of each bumper beam support. If there is heavy debris in the weldnuts, use a wire brush or spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole. Take care not to damage the threads.
1. Remove four rear underbody panels (Step 1). 2. Clean bumper beam stud threads and insert flat washers over six cleaned studs (Step 2). 3. Raise driver and passenger-side mounting plates into position and loosely secure with conical-toothed washers and M12 hex nuts (Step 3). 4. Trim lower bumper panel (Step 4). 5. Raise the hitch, center it behind the bumper cover, rotate the receiver tube into position, and secure with 1/2" carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts (Step 5). 6. Torque all fasteners and reinstall panels (Step 6).
The mounting brackets should be loosely secured in Step 3 with conical-toothed washers and M12 hex nuts. They are fully tightened only in Step 6 after the hitch is centered and the carriage bolts are installed.
