You need an Allen wrench. The package includes a Torx wrench and hex wrench for assembly. The manual lists Allen wrench as the primary tool required.

Never exceed the factory weight rating of the OEM roof rack, including the weight of the cargo carrier. The manual does not specify a separate weight capacity for the carrier itself. Consult your vehicle's roof rack documentation or contact CURT support for the exact weight limit.
Installation involves two main steps: (1) Insert the saddle between the cargo basket and roof bar, then secure the basket, saddle, and roof bar between the top and bottom bracket using the appropriate screw length for your application and tighten. (2) Cover the tube joints with the water caps, clip them together ensuring the flat surface faces the outside of the basket, then insert an M6 screw from below and tighten.
