Dometic is a global leader in mobile living products, born from Swedish Electrolux research into compact refrigeration. The range spans RV and marine air conditioning, refrigerators, awnings, cooking appliances, sanitation and toilets, ventilation fans, power systems and portable coolers, all engineered for small spaces on the move in vehicles, boats and overlanding rigs.
Dometic began with engineers in Stockholm working on refrigeration for life outside the home, as part of Swedish Electrolux. Compact refrigeration came first, and from there the company moved into climate systems and eventually a full spectrum of solutions covering cooking, shelter, cooling, marine and power. Today it is a global leader in what it calls mobile living, with an engineering mindset applied consistently across the range: even products with no electronics in them go through the same development process.
Climate control is the most visible part of the business in recreational vehicles. Rooftop and under-bench air conditioning units are engineered for the weight, power draw and roof space limits of a coach, and Dometic thermostats and control systems tie them together with heating.
Refrigeration remains a core competence, with RV refrigerators spanning absorption and compressor technologies in sizes from compact van units to residential-style models, alongside portable powered coolers for vehicles and boats. Sanitation covers cassette, gravity and vacuum toilets plus holding tank systems for RVs and marine installations.
Outdoor living products include patio and slide-out awnings, shade accessories, tents and furniture, while ventilation is handled by roof vent fans that move heat and moisture out of a sealed living space. Beyond leisure, Dometic supplies professional markets including hospitality, healthcare, special vehicles and trucks with parking coolers, truck refrigerators and gas detectors, and the marine division covers electric actuation, mobile power systems and fuel systems.
The customer base runs from vanlifers and overlanders to boaters, motorhome owners and commercial fleet operators, and the company has committed publicly to reworking material sourcing, manufacturing, shipping, recyclability and repairability across its operations.
