Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

The 65053 front mounted receiver is designed for Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350, and E-450 models. Installation procedures vary slightly between E-150/E-250 and E-350/E-450 due to differences in frame rail access and bumper bracket configuration.
If your vehicle has a front-mounted license plate, the license plate holder will require relocation and/or modification to install the hitch. Cequent offers separate license plate relocation kits: part numbers 49802 or 5443, sold separately.
Required tools are: utility knife, wrenches in 8mm, 21mm deep well socket, and 3/4", and drill bits in 3/8" and 1/2". A torque wrench is also needed to tighten fasteners to the specified 75 Lb.-Ft (102 N-m).
The 65053 comes with Fastener Kit 65053F, which includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2"-13 x 1-3/4", (4) nuts 1/2", (4) spacers 1/4" x 1" x 3", (4) conical toothed washers 1/2", and (4) pull wires.
Yes. The manual explicitly states to obtain vehicle owner approval before cutting. This is required because fascia trim is necessary for installation, and the splash guard may also require trimming.
Yes. You must enlarge the forward hole on the vehicle with a 1/2" drill bit (Step 3). Additionally, when trimming the lower fascia (Step 4), you must drill two 3/8" holes in the corners before cutting the 3" square opening.
You must trim the lower fascia to create a 3" square opening. Locate the center of the fascia and mark 1-1/2" on each side (3" total width), then mark 3" down from the existing opening. Drill two 3/8" holes in the corners, then carefully cut out the 3" square. Vehicle owner approval is required before cutting.
Splash guard trimming is recommended but not mandatory. You may return the splash guard to the vehicle owner or obtain their permission to trim it as shown in Figure 5. If trimmed, the same trimming is applied to both sides of the splash guard.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch." Use a utility knife and drill as specified in the installation steps.
1. Remove splash guard (4 bolts). 2. If present on E-350/E-450, remove plastic rivets and fold plastic between covering and frame rail. 3. Enlarge forward hole with 1/2" drill bit. 4. Trim lower fascia (3" square opening). 5. Feed carriage bolts and spacers through frame rail access point using pull wire (E-150/E-250) or loosen bumper bracket bolts and feed fasteners through opening (E-350/E-450). 6. Raise hitch into position and fasten. 7. Return or trim splash guard.
Use a pull wire to feed the carriage bolts and spacers through the access point at the forward end of the frame rail, as shown in Figure 2. The pull wire is included in the fastener kit.
On E-350 and E-450 models, loosen (but do not remove) the two bolts at the end of the frame rail and the bumper bracket bolts enough to feed the fasteners into the opening at the end of the frame rail. The bumper may shift downward slightly. After feeding fasteners into the frame rail, raise and retighten the bolts.
No. Plastic rivets only need to be removed on E-350 and E-450 models if present. On these models, remove the plastic rivets from the forward attachment on the vehicle and fold the plastic between the plastic covering and frame rail.
All 1/2" GR5 fasteners must be tightened with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft (102 N-m).
Do not exceed 500 LB (227 Kg) cargo capacity or the truck's front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), whichever is lower.
The maximum winch line pull is 9,000 lb (4086 Kg).
Observe safety precautions when working beneath the vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. Obtain vehicle owner approval before cutting fascia or trimming the splash guard.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Verify that all 1/2" GR5 fasteners are torqued to 75 Lb.-Ft (102 N-m).
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Do not continue to use a damaged receiver.
Yes, the 65053 is designed for Ford Econoline E-150, E-250, E-350, and E-450 models. If you have a front-mounted license plate, you will need a separate relocation kit (49802 or 5443).
You need a utility knife, wrenches (8mm, 21mm deep well socket, 3/4"), drill bits (3/8" and 1/2"), and a torque wrench. The fastener kit (65053F) is included.

Maximum cargo capacity is 500 LB (227 Kg) or the truck's front GAWR, whichever is lower. Maximum winch line pull is 9,000 lb (4086 Kg).
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or body panels to prevent water and exhaust fume entry.
