Fulton has produced marine and utility trailer hardware for more than a century, and its jacks, winches and couplers are a standard for light and medium-duty trailering. The XLT and F2 series cover swivel and fixed jacks, hand and powered winches from 1,500 to 3,200 pounds, and couplers built to keep working in wet, salty conditions.
With more than a hundred years of production behind it, Fulton has become the reference point for light and medium-duty trailer hardware, particularly on the marine side. That environment is the toughest test a trailer component faces. A boat trailer is reversed into fresh or salt water on every launch and left to sit wet, which finds every weakness in plating, sealing and material choice. Fulton's stated position is that the brand performs best when the weather is at its worst, and its product engineering reflects that. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Bulldog, Tekonsha and Wesbar.
Marine and utility jacks anchor the line. The XLT Series marine jack uses a bolt-through swivel mount built from three-dimensionally formed heavy-gauge steel stampings with a proprietary bushing material, a combination chosen to minimise deflection under tongue load while keeping the swivel action working after years of exposure. The F2 Series takes corrosion resistance further as the industry's only extruded aluminium marine jack with an anodised finish, which removes the rust problem at its source rather than coating over it. The wider trailer jack range covers topwind, sidewind and drop-leg configurations.
Trailer winches pull boats onto bunks and rollers. XLT Series winches use efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and a Comfort Grip handle that makes the last few turns under load bearable, in 1,500 and 1,800 pound capacities. F2 Series winches use an enclosed frame for a cleaner look and added protection, in 1,600, 2,000 and 3,200 pound models, including two-speed options that trade line speed for cranking effort.
Couplers complete the range, including A-frame couplers matched to common tongue sizes and load ratings, serving boat owners, utility trailer users and trailer manufacturers.

The 44305R is a Class IV coupler rated for 10,000 pounds. The heavier-duty 44314R model is rated for 14,000 pounds. Do not exceed the lesser of the coupler, hitch, vehicle, ball, or trailer weight ratings.
The 44305R coupler can only be used with 50-degree trailer tongues. This is a mandatory requirement for safe operation.
The coupler requires a 2 5/16 inch diameter ball rated for the minimum coupler weight rating. Using any other ball size creates an extremely dangerous condition that can result in separation of the coupler and ball, or ball failure. Do not substitute.
All welding must be performed by an American Welding Society (AWS) certified welder. This is a mandatory requirement stated in the mounting instructions and warnings.
A minimum coupler/tongue overlap of 6.5 inches is required. The maximum overlap is 7.5 inches. This overlap must be maintained for safe operation.
A minimum 3/16 inch fillet weld is required. Welds must be applied on both sides and the top of the coupler, as shown in the installation diagrams.
If the coupler is to be primed or painted after installation, you must remove any excess paint or primer buildup from the ball pocket and latching mechanism. Ensure that coupler operation has not been impaired in any way. Do not use the coupler if operation is affected.
Maintain a film of automotive grease in the ball pocket, ball clamp, and where the shaft enters the housing. Maintain a film of SAE 30 WT motor oil on the pivot points and spring ends. Keep the ball pocket and mechanism clean because dirt, paint, and other debris can hinder proper operation. When parking or storing the trailer, keep the coupler off the ground to prevent dirt and foreign material buildup in the ball pocket.
Before towing, ensure that: (1) the hitch ball is fully seated in the coupler ball pocket, (2) the locking lever is rotated back to the closed position, (3) the latch is engaged, (4) the ball clamp is positioned below the ball, and (5) the vehicle, hitch, hitch ball, and coupler show no signs of wear or damage. The coupler handle must open and close freely. Replace any worn or damaged components before towing.
Do not tow if: (1) the ball is not fully seated in the coupler, (2) the handle is open, or (3) the latch is not engaged. Before latching or unlatching the coupler, ensure the vehicle, trailer, and load will not shift, roll, or move. Ensure all trailer lighting is hooked up and working correctly before each use. Ensure safety chains are properly connected to both the towing vehicle and trailer.
1) Ensure the vehicle, trailer, and load will not shift or roll. 2) Open the coupler locking lever. While holding it open, lower the coupler over the hitch ball until the ball is fully seated into the ball pocket. The lever will close due to internal spring, so hold it open or pin it open. 3) If pinned, remove the pin. Close the lever to the closed position without forcing. If the handle does not close easily, the trailer and tow vehicle may be misaligned—re-align as necessary. 4) Verify the latch is engaged by lifting up on the back of the locking lever. Verify the ball is fully seated and the ball clamp is below the ball. If the ball is not seated with the lever closed, do not tow and repeat the steps. 5) Optionally, place a pin or lock in the hole shown for theft deterrent.
1) Before unlatching, ensure the vehicle, trailer, and load will not shift or roll. Note that the load may have shifted during transit, resulting in a negative tongue load. Use caution when unlatching, as the tongue may rise unexpectedly. If a lock or pin is in the lever, remove it first. 2) Fully open the locking lever. While holding it fully open, raise the coupler off the hitch ball. An optional hold-open pin can be used. 3) Return the handle to the closed position.
The 44305R Ball Clamp Repair Kit (part number 64 0801) includes: coupler weldment (02 251 37), compression spring (02 410 12), link pin (02 380 02), locking lever assembly (02 702 08), groove pin (02 270 57), and ball clamp (02 700 18). Individual parts are also available. Contact Fulton Performance Products Customer Service at 715-693-1700 to order. Specify the product model number, name of parts, and part number.

No. The 44305R is designed only for trailers with 50-degree trailer tongues and requires a 2 5/16 inch diameter hitch ball. Verify your trailer tongue angle and hitch ball size before purchasing.
Yes. All welding must be performed by an American Welding Society (AWS) certified welder. This is a mandatory requirement for safe operation.
A minimum 6.5 inch overlap is required, with a maximum of 7.5 inches. The coupler must be welded with a minimum 3/16 inch fillet weld on both sides and the top.
Before towing, verify: (1) the hitch ball is fully seated in the coupler ball pocket, (2) the locking lever is closed, (3) the latch is engaged, (4) the ball clamp is below the ball, and (5) there is no wear or damage to the coupler, hitch, ball, or vehicle. Do not tow if any of these conditions are not met.
Maintain a film of automotive grease in the ball pocket and ball clamp, and SAE 30 WT motor oil on pivot points and spring ends. Keep the mechanism clean and the coupler off the ground when parked to prevent dirt buildup. The manual does not specify a maintenance interval; perform these checks regularly.
The 44305R is rated for 10,000 pounds (Class IV). The 44314R is rated for 14,000 pounds. Do not exceed the lesser of the coupler, hitch, vehicle, ball, or trailer weight ratings.
If the locking lever does not close easily, the trailer and tow vehicle may be misaligned. Stop and re-align the trailer and tow vehicle as necessary. Do not force the handle down. After re-alignment, attempt to close the lever again. If it still does not close easily, do not tow and investigate the alignment further.
To verify the latch is engaged, lift up on the back of the locking lever with your finger. The latch should be firmly engaged and not move. If the latch is not engaged, close the locking lever to the closed position and repeat the check. If the latch still does not engage, do not tow. Repeat the entire latching procedure: open the lever, lower the coupler over the hitch ball until fully seated, close the lever, and verify engagement again.
If the ball is not fully seated with the lever in the closed position, do not tow. Repeat the latching procedure: (1) Open the coupler locking lever fully. (2) While holding the lever open, lower the coupler over the hitch ball until the ball is fully seated into the ball pocket. (3) Close the locking lever to the closed position without forcing. (4) Verify the ball is fully seated and the ball clamp is below the ball. If the ball still does not seat fully, check that the trailer and tow vehicle are properly aligned and that you are using a 2 5/16 inch diameter ball.
Dirt, paint, or other debris in the ball pocket and latching mechanism can hinder proper operation and make the coupler stiff. Clean the ball pocket and mechanism thoroughly. Ensure that excess paint or primer buildup has been removed if the coupler was recently painted. After cleaning, maintain a film of automotive grease in the ball pocket and ball clamp, and SAE 30 WT motor oil on pivot points and spring ends. If the coupler remains stiff after cleaning and lubrication, do not use it and contact Fulton Performance Products.
