Fulton has produced marine and utility trailer hardware for more than a century, and its jacks, winches and couplers are a standard for light and medium-duty trailering. The XLT and F2 series cover swivel and fixed jacks, hand and powered winches from 1,500 to 3,200 pounds, and couplers built to keep working in wet, salty conditions.
With more than a hundred years of production behind it, Fulton has become the reference point for light and medium-duty trailer hardware, particularly on the marine side. That environment is the toughest test a trailer component faces. A boat trailer is reversed into fresh or salt water on every launch and left to sit wet, which finds every weakness in plating, sealing and material choice. Fulton's stated position is that the brand performs best when the weather is at its worst, and its product engineering reflects that. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Bulldog, Tekonsha and Wesbar.
Marine and utility jacks anchor the line. The XLT Series marine jack uses a bolt-through swivel mount built from three-dimensionally formed heavy-gauge steel stampings with a proprietary bushing material, a combination chosen to minimise deflection under tongue load while keeping the swivel action working after years of exposure. The F2 Series takes corrosion resistance further as the industry's only extruded aluminium marine jack with an anodised finish, which removes the rust problem at its source rather than coating over it. The wider trailer jack range covers topwind, sidewind and drop-leg configurations.
Trailer winches pull boats onto bunks and rollers. XLT Series winches use efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and a Comfort Grip handle that makes the last few turns under load bearable, in 1,500 and 1,800 pound capacities. F2 Series winches use an enclosed frame for a cleaner look and added protection, in 1,600, 2,000 and 3,200 pound models, including two-speed options that trade line speed for cranking effort.
Couplers complete the range, including A-frame couplers matched to common tongue sizes and load ratings, serving boat owners, utility trailer users and trailer manufacturers.

The product model is F3294-00, Revision E-6524. This manual covers manual hand-operated work winches available in 1,000 lb., 1,500 lb., and 2,500 lb. capacities.
Work winches are available in three capacity ratings: 1,000 lb., 1,500 lb., and 2,500 lb. Always refer to the stamped markings or decals on your specific winch to confirm its rated capacity.
No. Only winches with a minimum hub diameter of 1 3/4" can accommodate steel cable. Check your winch specifications before selecting cable. Rope can be used on all models.
You will need three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts. Mounting bolts vary in length for each application, so they are not supplied with the winch. Torque the bolts to 28–30 ft-lbs.
The winch stand must be capable of supporting at least five times the rated capacity of the winch. For example, a 1,000 lb. winch requires a stand rated for at least 5,000 lbs.
The mounting surface must be equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame. This ensures proper weight distribution and stability.
Attaching rope requires no bolts, nuts, or clamps. The rope must weave through the drum outer wall and be secured beneath itself, as shown in the manual illustration. Do not remove the drum to install rope.
Pass the cable from the inside of the drum through one of the dimpled holes in the outer plate. Loop the cable around the drum bearing, under itself, and leave 1" of cable extending past the clamp location. Torque the clamp nuts to approximately 2 ft-lbs. Do not remove the drum to install cable.
Torque the cable clamp nuts to approximately 2 ft-lbs.
Assemble the handle onto the flatted input shaft end. Tighten the 1/2"-13 locknut against the handle and torque to 22–25 ft-lbs. Do not over torque. Do not adjust the double locknuts on the long end of the input shaft.
Torque the 1/2"-13 handle locknut to 22–25 ft-lbs. Do not over torque.
Torque the three grade 5, 3/8" diameter mounting bolts to 28–30 ft-lbs.
The 2,500 lb. winch has cable that wraps beneath the drum. The 1,000 lb. and 1,500 lb. winches have cable that wraps over the top of the drum. Refer to the line direction illustrations in the manual for your specific model.
Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch and should stop immediately.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting the load. If a loud clicking sound is not heard, do not use the winch and replace ratchet components immediately.
Always maintain a minimum of three (3) complete wraps of cable or rope on the drum at all times during operation.
No. Do not use the winch to move humans. The winch is designed for lifting and lowering loads only.
Before each use, inspect the cable and its attachment to make sure they are not damaged. Never use worn, kinked, or frayed cable. If the cable or attachment is damaged, do not use the winch.
Assure there is an adequate safety factor of at least 3 times the maximum load for all components used, including the cable, attachments, and mounting structure.
No. Never leave a weight supported from the winch while the winch is unattended, as another person may attempt to operate the winch, thereby creating an unsafe condition.
Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload. Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch and should stop immediately.
The following procedures should be performed at least annually: apply a drop or two of #30 weight engine oil to each bushing I.D. and to the ratchet pawl pivot points; maintain a thin layer of marine grease on the gear teeth and shaft threads. Periodically check mounting hardware for proper torque and tighten if necessary.
Use #30 weight engine oil on bushings and ratchet pawl pivot points. Use marine grease on gear teeth and shaft threads. Do not get oil or grease on the friction discs, as this could allow the load to slip or fall.
The friction discs must be kept free of oil and grease. Getting oil or grease on the friction discs could allow the load to slip or fall.
Check the final installation and make sure the winch is secure to the mounting structure. Verify that all mounting bolts are torqued to 28–30 ft-lbs and that the winch frame is properly seated on the mounting surface.
Periodically check mounting hardware for proper torque and tighten if necessary. This should be done before each use and at least annually as part of routine maintenance.
Refer to the "Cable In/Cable Out" decal or stamp on the winch. Turn the handle according to the specified direction to lift (cable in) or lower (cable out). When lifting, the ratchet must make a loud clicking sound. When lowering, no clicking will be heard because the brake system is activated.
When lifting (taking line in), the ratchet MUST make a loud clicking sound. When lowering (letting line out), no clicking will be heard because the brake system is activated.
Never release the crank handle unless the ratchet pawl is fully engaged and the load is supported. Always ensure the load is secure before releasing the handle.
Never use worn, kinked, or frayed cable. If the cable or attachment is damaged, do not use the winch. If the cable breaks, it will whip violently, causing property damage, serious bodily injury, and/or death. Always inspect the cable and its attachment before each use.
No. Never stand along side the winch cable or rope or guide the cable or rope with your hands. If the cable breaks, it will whip violently and cause serious injury or death.
Never operate the winch with slippery, wet, or oily hands. Always maintain a firm grip on the winch handle. Do not attempt to stop the winch by grabbing the handle while in motion.
No. This winch is designed for manual operation only and the load rating is based on an intermittent duty cycle. Do not use for continuous or prolonged lifting operations.
Only if your winch has a minimum hub diameter of 1 3/4". Check your winch specifications. Rope can be used on all models.
Three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts with flat washers and lock nuts. Lengths vary by application. Torque to 28–30 ft-lbs.
At least 5 times the winch's rated capacity. For a 1,000 lb. winch, the stand must support 5,000 lbs minimum.
Torque the 1/2"-13 locknut to 22–25 ft-lbs. Do not over torque.
45 lbs maximum. If you cannot crank with one hand, the winch is overloaded.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet. If you don't hear it, stop immediately and replace ratchet components.
At least annually. Apply #30 weight engine oil to bushings and ratchet pivot points; maintain marine grease on gear teeth and shaft threads. Never oil the friction discs.
Periodically, and at least before each use. Retorque to 28–30 ft-lbs if loose.
Do not use the winch. A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting the load. If a loud clicking sound is not heard, replace ratchet components immediately before using the winch again.
Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload. Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch. Stop immediately and reduce the load.
No. Never use worn, kinked, or frayed cable. If the cable or attachment is damaged, do not use the winch. If the cable breaks, it will whip violently, causing property damage, serious bodily injury, and/or death. Replace the cable immediately.
Do not get oil or grease on the friction discs. This could allow the load to slip or fall. Inspect the friction discs and clean them if contaminated. Also verify that the ratchet pawl is fully engaged and the cable is securely fastened to both the load and the winch drum.
