Fulton has produced marine and utility trailer hardware for more than a century, and its jacks, winches and couplers are a standard for light and medium-duty trailering. The XLT and F2 series cover swivel and fixed jacks, hand and powered winches from 1,500 to 3,200 pounds, and couplers built to keep working in wet, salty conditions.
With more than a hundred years of production behind it, Fulton has become the reference point for light and medium-duty trailer hardware, particularly on the marine side. That environment is the toughest test a trailer component faces. A boat trailer is reversed into fresh or salt water on every launch and left to sit wet, which finds every weakness in plating, sealing and material choice. Fulton's stated position is that the brand performs best when the weather is at its worst, and its product engineering reflects that. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Bulldog, Tekonsha and Wesbar.
Marine and utility jacks anchor the line. The XLT Series marine jack uses a bolt-through swivel mount built from three-dimensionally formed heavy-gauge steel stampings with a proprietary bushing material, a combination chosen to minimise deflection under tongue load while keeping the swivel action working after years of exposure. The F2 Series takes corrosion resistance further as the industry's only extruded aluminium marine jack with an anodised finish, which removes the rust problem at its source rather than coating over it. The wider trailer jack range covers topwind, sidewind and drop-leg configurations.
Trailer winches pull boats onto bunks and rollers. XLT Series winches use efficient gear ratios, full-length drum bearings, oil-impregnated shaft bushings and a Comfort Grip handle that makes the last few turns under load bearable, in 1,500 and 1,800 pound capacities. F2 Series winches use an enclosed frame for a cleaner look and added protection, in 1,600, 2,000 and 3,200 pound models, including two-speed options that trade line speed for cranking effort.
Couplers complete the range, including A-frame couplers matched to common tongue sizes and load ratings, serving boat owners, utility trailer users and trailer manufacturers.

This manual covers manual hand winches in three capacity ratings: 1,000 lb., 1,500 lb., and 2,500 lb. The specific capacity of your winch is stamped or marked on the product itself. Never exceed the maximum rated capacity marked on your winch. If you are uncertain of the capacity, contact Cequent Performance Products at 1-800-632-3290 or www.cequentgroup.com.
This winch is designed for manual operation only. It is operated by hand crank and is rated for an intermittent duty cycle. Do not attempt to power or motorize this winch.
No. Only winches with a minimum hub diameter of 1 3/4" can accommodate steel cable. The 1,000 lb. and 1,500 lb. models wrap cable over the top of the drum, while the 2,500 lb. model wraps cable beneath the drum. Check your winch specifications to confirm hub diameter before using steel cable.
Mounting hardware is not supplied with the winch. You must provide three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts. Bolt lengths will vary depending on your application. The mounting surface must be equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame, and the stand must be capable of supporting at least five times the rated capacity of the winch.
Before each use, perform these checks: (1) Inspect the rope or cable and replace if damaged; (2) Check mounting hardware for proper torque and re-torque if necessary; (3) Ensure gears, ratchet pivot point, and shaft bushings are lubricated with thin oil or grease.
Attaching a rope requires no bolts, nuts, or clamps. The rope must weave through the drum outer wall and be secured beneath itself as shown in the manual illustration. Do not remove the drum to install the rope.
Pass the cable from the inside of the drum through one of the dimpled holes in the outer plate. Loop the cable around the drum bearing, under itself, and leave 1" of cable extending past the clamp location. Torque the clamp nuts to approximately 2 ft-lbs. Do not remove the drum to install the cable.
Assemble the handle onto the flatted input shaft end. Tighten the 1/2"-13 locknut against the handle and torque to 22-25 ft-lbs. Do not over torque. Do not adjust the double locknuts on the long end of the input shaft.
When bolting the winch down, use three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts and torque to 28-30 ft-lbs. Mounting bolts will vary in length for each application. Check the final installation and make sure the winch is secure to the mounting structure.
Tighten the 1/2"-13 locknut against the handle and torque to 22-25 ft-lbs. Do not over torque.
Torque the cable clamp nuts to approximately 2 ft-lbs.
Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch. Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload.
Always maintain a minimum of three (3) complete wraps of cable or rope on the drum.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting the load. If a loud clicking sound is not heard, do not use the winch and replace the ratchet components immediately. When lowering, no clicking will be heard because the brake system is activated.
No. Do not use the winch to move humans. This winch is designed for lifting and lowering loads only.
Do not get oil or grease on the friction discs. This could allow the load to slip or fall. The friction discs must be kept free of grease or oil. When performing maintenance, apply oil and grease only to the specified locations: bushings, ratchet pawl pivot points, gear teeth, and shaft threads—never to the friction discs.
No. Never leave a weight supported from the winch while the winch is unattended, as another person may attempt to operate the winch, thereby creating an unsafe condition.
Assure there is adequate safety factor of at least 3 times the maximum load for all components used. This applies to the cable, rope, attachments, and any other components in the lifting system.
The following procedures should be performed at least annually: (1) Apply a drop or two of #30 weight engine oil to each bushing I.D. and to the ratchet pawl pivot points; (2) Maintain a thin layer of marine grease on the gear teeth and shaft threads. Additionally, periodically check mounting hardware for proper torque and tighten if necessary.
Use #30 weight engine oil for bushings and ratchet pawl pivot points. Use marine grease on the gear teeth and shaft threads. Maintain a thin layer of lubricant. Do not apply oil or grease to the friction discs.
Check the final installation and make sure the winch is secure to the mounting structure. Verify that the mounting surface is equal to or greater than the footprint of the winch frame, and that the stand is capable of supporting at least five times the rated capacity of the winch.
Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch. Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load.
Always inspect the cable and its attachment before each use to make sure they are not damaged. Never use worn, kinked, or frayed cable. If the cable or attachment breaks, the cable will whip violently, causing property damage, serious bodily injury, and/or death.
Never operate with slippery, wet, or oily hands and always maintain a firm grip on the winch handle. Do not attempt to stop a winch by grabbing the handle while in motion. Refer to the "Cable In/Cable Out" decal or stamp on the winch and turn the handle according to the specified direction to lift or lower. Never release the crank handle unless the ratchet pawl is fully engaged and the load is supported.
Yes, but only if the winch has a minimum hub diameter of 1 3/4". The 1,000 lb. and 1,500 lb. models wrap cable over the drum; the 2,500 lb. model wraps cable beneath the drum.
You must supply three grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts. Bolt lengths vary by application. The stand must support at least 5× the winch's rated capacity.
Maximum 45 lbs of handle force is required to pull the rated load. If you cannot crank with one hand, the winch is overloaded.
A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting. If no clicking is heard, do not use the winch and replace ratchet components immediately.
Perform annual maintenance: apply #30 weight engine oil to bushings and ratchet pivot points, and maintain a thin layer of marine grease on gear teeth and shaft threads. Periodically check mounting hardware torque.

A loud clicking sound from the ratchet must be heard when lifting the load. If a loud clicking sound is not heard, do not use the winch. Replace the ratchet components immediately. Do not attempt to lift with the winch until the ratchet has been replaced.
If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you are potentially overloading the winch. Excessive force in turning the winch handle may indicate overload. Winches require a maximum of 45 lbs of handle force to pull their rated load. Reduce the load or check that you are not exceeding the winch's maximum rated capacity.
Do not get oil or grease on the friction discs, as this could allow the load to slip or fall. Check the friction discs and clean them if necessary. Ensure no oil or grease has been applied to the friction discs during maintenance. If the problem persists, contact Cequent Performance Products at 1-800-632-3290.
