Warranty: Limited Lifetime Warranty (One-Year Finish, One-Year Parts)
Finish: BRIGHT ALUMINUM
Material: Aluminum
Part Type: Chest Box
UWS wedge utility chest boxes provide unbeatable storage and security for your items in the bed of your truck and on the jobsite. Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system and a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. This particular tool box features a wedged design to optimize storage space without obstructing other accessories in the truck bed, including the wheel wells. Each UWS truck tool box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring stainless steel, key-operated paddle handles. Stainless steel construction supplies the locks with long-lasting corrosion resistance, and they feature an internal connecting rod that allows the lid to be opened from either side of the truck. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. Like all UWS products, each one is proudly assembled right here in the USA for style and long-lasting dependability (NOTE: This product is heavily packaged for parcel shipping).

UWS designs and builds heavy-duty truck tool boxes and storage for tradespeople and truck owners. The line covers crossover and side-mount boxes, chest boxes, underbody boxes, transfer tanks and dog boxes. Every aluminum box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, with construction aimed at job-site abuse, road vibration and daily use.
UWS is a leading manufacturer and designer of truck tool boxes and truck accessories, and a Lippert brand. The company's focus is narrow and deliberate: storage that stands up to being opened and slammed shut dozens of times a day, loaded past what looks reasonable, and left outdoors in whatever weather the job brings. Its customers are electricians, plumbers, contractors, farmers, outdoorsmen and truck owners who treat a pickup as a working tool rather than transport.
The catalog covers the full range of bed storage. Crossover boxes sit across the bed behind the cab in single-lid, gull-wing, secure-lock and low-profile styles, so there is a fit whether the priority is capacity, rear visibility or working under a tonneau. Side-mount boxes mount along the bed rails and keep the bed floor free for cargo, while underbody boxes tuck beneath the frame rails of service bodies and flatbeds.
Beyond the bed, UWS makes portable chest boxes that move between vehicles and the shop, transfer tanks and combination tank-and-toolbox units for crews working away from fuel supply, and insulated, ventilated dog boxes for hunters and handlers.
Manufacturing sits at the centre of the brand's identity. Every UWS aluminum tool box is designed, fabricated and welded in Perry, Florida, by tradespeople with decades of experience, and the company's Rooted in Trades initiative is built around that connection to skilled manual work. Boxes use heavy-gauge aluminum, continuous welds at the seams, weather stripping to seal against rain and dust, and locking systems intended to resist tampering. The practical result is storage that keeps tools dry, organized and where they were left.

UWS | Tough. Reliable.
The package includes one utility chest box, two keys, and a mounting hardware kit (note: not all models include the mounting hardware kit, so you may need to purchase hardware separately). Check your specific product to confirm what was included.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, such as containers of gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches." This is a danger warning.
Yes, the product can reduce your ability to clearly see roadways, traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows. Extra precaution should be taken when driving with this product installed. You should verify placement and visibility before final installation.
The chest box can be used with a plastic drop-in bed liner, but the liner may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the mounting hardware. Plan for this modification during installation.
The manual states: "Do not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment." You must verify during installation that the chest box does not obstruct or interfere with any factory safety systems on your vehicle.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. The manual rates the installation difficulty as Easy.
If the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK is not included, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts. These are installed through the bottom of the chest box and truck bed.
Place the chest box in your desired location and check that the lid operates properly. In the bottom of the chest box, select two mounting points that are aligned with the raised ribs in your truck bed. These ribs provide structural support for the mounting.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Precaution must be taken that fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or damage during a collision.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will then enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the instructions included with that kit.
Yes. The manual states: "Treat or seal all fasteners and exposed metal in any holes drilled in vehicle to prevent corrosion." Additionally, use silicone-type caulk as needed to fill any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box to prevent water from seeping in.
The recommended torque for 5/16" SAE bolts is 7 ft-lbs. The manual notes that these are general guidelines; if you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
The recommended torque for M8 bolts is 7 ft-lbs. The manual notes that these are general guidelines; if you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
After drilling and installing the bolts, washers and lock nuts, tighten all fasteners to the recommended torque values shown on page 1 of the manual. For 5/16" or M8 bolts, the torque is 7 ft-lbs. Use a ratchet and socket set to achieve proper torque.
If the strikers are out of alignment, simply loosen, adjust and re-tighten them. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
Ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, perform periodic inspections to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish. For polished, gloss and other smooth finishes, polish may be used to clear small scratches and scuffs. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks.
The manual does not specify the weight capacity. However, it states: "Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity." Consult your vehicle's owner manual or the CURT Group dealer for the specific capacity of your chest box model.
The manual does not specify which vehicles are compatible. Contact CURT Group at 877.287.8634 or consult your dealer with your vehicle's make, model, year and bed length to confirm fitment.
Not all models include the mounting hardware kit. Check your package; if hardware is not included, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers and two lock nuts, or use the optional hardware kit #003-CBOXMK.
Yes. You will drill through the chest box and truck bed with an 11/32" drill bit. If using the hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, you will then enlarge the truck bed holes with a 1/2" drill bit. Before drilling, check under your vehicle to avoid puncturing brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires or fuel tanks.
For 5/16" or M8 bolts, tighten to 7 ft-lbs. Refer to page 1 of the manual for torque specifications for other bolt sizes. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware.
No. Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste such as gasoline, solvents, propane tanks or acetylene tanks.
Periodically inspect all mounting hardware to ensure it remains tight. Before every trip, ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue.
