Each box features a corrosion-resistant aluminum construction, a stainless steel locking system, a patented RigidCore foam-filled lid and integrated tool storage -- all to keep your equipment and valuables safe, well-organized and easily accessible whenever needed. Each UWS tool box and storage box is constructed from extra-thick aluminum for increased structural strength. The tub is welded together into a single piece for weather resistance and to easily hold heavy tools and other items. The lid features a patented foam core, sandwiched between two aluminum plates. This core greatly increases the rigidity of the lid and helps prevent bending and warping, making operation very smooth. The locking mechanism of the UWS truck tool box provides excellent security for your items, featuring a stainless steel, key-operated paddle handle. Stainless steel construction supplies the lock with long-lasting corrosion resistance. For solid protection against the elements, the lid also has a MicroSeal gasket, blocking moisture, dust and insects from getting inside and damaging your valuables. The lid also opens a full 90 degrees for easier access, and it is equipped with self-opening struts for convenient operation when your hands are full. UWS utility chest boxes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate any storage need. The package includes one utility chest box and two keys. A mounting hardware kit (part #003-CBOXMK) may be included depending on the model, but not all models include it. If the kit is not included, you will need to purchase your own hardware separately.
No. Do not use this product for storing or transporting flammables, explosives, hazardous materials or hazardous waste, including gasoline, solvents, gun powder, dynamite, propane tanks, acetylene tanks and cutting torches. Doing so creates a danger of explosion.
The manual does not specify which truck models, years, bed lengths or cab styles are compatible with this chest box. Before purchasing, consult your dealer or contact CURT Group at 877-287-8634 to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
If your truck has a plastic, drop-in bed liner, it may need to be trimmed or cut for proper attachment of the chest box. Check the fit before drilling, and trim as necessary to allow the box to sit properly and the lid to operate correctly.
You will need: a drill, 11/32" drill bit, 1/2" drill bit, ratchet, socket set, and tape measure. The manual rates the installation difficulty as Easy.
If the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK is not included, you will need to purchase two 5/16" or M8 bolts, four washers, and two lock nuts. These fasteners secure the chest box to the truck bed through two mounting points.
Before drilling, check under your vehicle to ensure the drill location does not puncture, cut or obstruct any brake lines, fuel lines, electrical wires, fuel tanks or other components. Precaution must be taken that all fasteners near the fuel tank do not create the possibility of fuel tank puncture or other damage during a collision.
Select two mounting points in the bottom of the chest box that are aligned with the raised ribs in the truck bed. This ensures the box is properly supported and secured to the truck structure.
1. Place the chest box in the desired location and check that the lid operates properly. 2. Select two mounting points aligned with truck bed ribs. 3. Drill through the chest box and truck bed with an 11/32" drill bit. 4. Install fasteners (either the included kit or purchased hardware). 5. Tighten all fasteners to the recommended torque values. 6. Apply silicone caulk around bolt washers to prevent water seepage. 7. Adjust strikers if needed and lubricate locks.
Use an 11/32" drill bit to drill through the chest box and truck bed. If you are using the mounting hardware kit #003-CBOXMK, enlarge the holes in the truck bed with a 1/2" drill bit and follow the instructions included with that kit.
The recommended torque for 5/16" SAE bolts is 7 ft-lbs. If you purchase hardware separately, use the torque specifications provided with that hardware. These are general guidelines; always refer to the hardware manufacturer's specifications if they differ.

Yes. After tightening all fasteners, use a silicone-type caulk as needed to fill in any open areas around the bolt flat washer or bonded washer inside the chest box. This prevents water from seeping into the chest box.
If the strikers are ever out of alignment, simply loosen them, adjust to the correct position, and re-tighten. Periodically lubricate the strikers and locks to ensure optimum performance.
This product can reduce your ability to clearly see roadways, vehicular or pedestrian traffic and other objects through the rear and side windows of your vehicle, which may cause an accident. Extra precaution should be taken when driving. Do not exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended capacity. Do not interfere with factory-installed safety equipment.
Before every trip, ensure all knobs, bolts, screws, straps and locks are firmly secured. Periodically re-tighten and inspect all components for signs of wear, corrosion and fatigue. With the chest box installed, periodic inspections should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight.
Use mild automotive detergent to clean the product. Do not use dish detergent, abrasive cleaners, abrasive pads, wire brushes or other similar products that may damage the finish.
