Weigh Safe manufactures adjustable trailer hitches with a built-in tongue weight scale, letting drivers read tongue weight directly at the hitch instead of guessing. Products include adjustable ball mounts, weight distribution hitches, gooseneck balls and towing accessories, machined from aircraft-grade aluminum and stainless steel on CNC equipment at the company's Lindon, Utah facility.
Weigh Safe entered the towing industry in November 2013 with a patented adjustable ball mount that had a tongue weight scale built into it. The product won Best New Tools and Equipment Product at that year's SEMA Show, and it addressed a genuine gap: tongue weight is one of the most important numbers in safe towing, and until then almost nobody could measure it without a truck scale or a bathroom scale and a lever. Founder Kevin McAllister spent more than a decade developing the design and accumulated fourteen U.S. patents over his career, nearly all of them aimed at safety.
The core product remains the adjustable ball mount, where a hydraulic gauge in the shank reads tongue weight as the trailer is coupled. Getting that number right keeps the tow vehicle's steering axle loaded and reduces the tendency toward trailer sway. The range has since grown to include the True Tow weight distribution system, which applies the same measurement principle to weight distribution setups, along with the CERT and Aero hitch lines, gooseneck balls and a broad range of towing accessories.
Weigh Safe is headquartered in Lindon, Utah, where its mechanical, manufacturing and electrical engineering teams work alongside production. Components are cut from aircraft-grade aluminum, stainless steel and high-quality steel, then machined to tight tolerances on CNC equipment. Every product moves through inspection and testing intended to meet or exceed published industry standards, and the company states it now manufactures more aluminum adjustable trailer hitches than any other U.S. hitch maker.
The products serve RV owners, boat and horse trailer owners, contractors and anyone towing near the limits of their vehicle, where knowing the actual tongue weight rather than estimating it changes how the rig behaves. Interchangeable hitch balls and keyed locks let one ball mount cover several trailers.

The Weigh Safe CER-180 is a 180 drop hitch finished in Cerakote Black. It is designed to be secured to a standard 2", 2.5" or 3" receiver on a tow vehicle and allows adjustment of the hitch ball height along the draw bar to achieve proper vehicle and trailer positioning.
The CER-180 is designed to secure to a standard 2", 2.5" or 3" receiver.
The Weigh Safe CER-180 has Gross Towing Weight (GTW) ratings that depend on the hitch ball size and shank length: 7,500 lbs. (1-7/8" ball), 8,000 lbs. (2" ball), 12,500 lbs. (2-5/16" ball & 2" shank), 18,500 lbs. (2-5/16" ball & 2.5" shank), and 21,000 lbs. (2-5/16" ball & 3" shank). You must never exceed the lower rating between your tow vehicle manufacturer's load limit and the applicable Weigh Safe hitch rating.
The maximum tongue weight is 1,500 lbs. for the 2" shank version and 2,200 lbs. for the 2.5" and 3" shank versions. Tongue weight should be between 10–15% of the gross trailer weight.
Place the 180 Slider (B) at the desired drop position on the draw bar (C) to ensure that your vehicle and trailer are properly positioned. The slider can be adjusted along the draw bar to achieve the correct height alignment between the tow vehicle and trailer.
Once you have positioned the 180 Slider (B) at the desired drop on the draw bar (C), insert the Dual Pin Key Lock Assembly (D) into the 180 Slider and lock it in place by turning the key. Pull on the Dual Pin Key Lock Assembly to ensure the lock has securely engaged, then place the Dust Lock Cover (E) over the lock.
No. The 180 Hitch Ball Pin (A) should be fully inserted into the 180 Slider (B) and is generally not supposed to be removed. The pin must remain engaged at all times.
No. Do not operate the hitch without the Dual Pin Key Lock Assembly (D) securely locked in place. You must insert the lock assembly into the 180 Slider and turn the key to lock it, then pull on the assembly to confirm secure engagement before towing.
No. Do not operate the hitch without the 180 Hitch Ball Pin (A) fully inserted into the 180 Slider (B). The pin must be engaged at all times during operation.
Safety chains must be attached between the vehicle and trailer. Do not attach chains directly to the hitch itself.
Yes, if your vehicle has a standard 2", 2.5" or 3" receiver. The CER-180 is designed to secure to these receiver sizes.
The maximum GTW rating is 21,000 lbs. However, you must never exceed the lower of your tow vehicle manufacturer's limit or this hitch rating.
Yes. The lock must be inserted, turned to lock, and pulled to confirm secure engagement. Do not tow without it securely locked in place.
Tongue weight should be between 10–15% of the gross trailer weight. Maximum tongue weight is 1,500 lbs. (2" shank) or 2,200 lbs. (2.5" and 3" shanks).
