Yes, the Curt 56341 is designed for Honda Civic sedans. The harness connects to the taillight wiring behind the driver and passenger side taillight housings inside the trunk.
The harness is rated for 3.0 amps per side for signal circuits and 6.0 amps total for tail and running circuits. Do not exceed these ratings or the tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
The battery connection must be fuse-protected with a maximum 10-amp fuse. Exceeding this fuse rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a flat blade screwdriver, panel trim removal tool, wire stripper, wire crimper, and cutting tool.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to locate the vehicle battery on the driver side under the hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning installation.
The yellow wire end of the custom wiring harness is inserted between the separated driver side taillight connectors behind the driver side taillight housing inside the trunk. The connectors must be fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
The green wire end of the custom wiring harness is routed to the passenger side behind the removed scuff panel and inserted between the separated passenger side taillight connectors, following the same procedure as the driver side (Steps 4-6).
Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw.
Drilling may be required. If a suitable existing grounding point (such as a screw with nut in the vehicle frame) is not available, you must drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided grounding screw. Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
The black converter box is adhered to a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight using the provided double-sided tape.
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out of the way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Test for proper function by using a test light or connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness will function properly.
The harness includes a grounding screw, ring terminal, double-sided tape for the converter box, cable ties for wire management, and a 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
1. Remove the trunk floor covering. 2. Remove the scuff panel by pulling out on the bottom and then up, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back. 3. Remove the push fasteners from the side felt liner. 4. Pull back on the felt liner to access the taillight wiring harness connectors.
Separate the vehicle taillight wiring harness connectors from the taillight housing, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Insert the custom wiring harness end (yellow for driver side, green for passenger side) between the separated connectors. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
