Yes. You must disconnect the negative battery cable in the engine compartment before proceeding with installation. This is required before accessing the vehicle power distribution box and inserting fuses and relays. Reconnect the negative battery cable only after all fuses and relays have been installed and all other steps are complete.
The vehicle wiring harness connectors are located under the rear of the vehicle, inside the driver side frame rail. The connector ends will be similar to those on the custom wiring connector. Handle them carefully to avoid damaging the locking tabs when separating them.
