However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Hyundai Sonata (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Hyundai Elantra sedan, Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima sedan (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. You have a picture in mind of your next destination -- maybe it's the boat landing at your favorite fishing spot, maybe it's a campsite that overlooks one of nature's masterpieces, or maybe it's the next big jobsite. However, turning that picture into a reality takes more than just daydreaming. It takes a solid connection and the right amount of power. CURT custom wiring is made with some of the most sophisticated technology in the industry and is designed to install with ease, giving you a long-lasting electrical connection for your towing hitch setup.

Yes, the Curt 11325 is designed for Hyundai Sonata GL and GLS models. It is compatible with existing weldnuts in both frame rails and requires no drilling.
The manual states a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
You will need: ratchet, 10mm long socket, 9/16" socket, 11/16" socket, torque wrench, pen or marker, aviation shears, and rotary tool.
The kit includes: four M10×1.25×30 mm class 10.9 hex head cap screws (part 10-10271), one 3/8-16 UNC carriage bolt 1-3/4" long grade 8 (part 10-10473), one 3/8-16 UNC hex nut grade 8 (part 20-00166), one 3/8" S-CON washer (part 30-00148), four 7/16" S-CON washers (part 30-00163), and one 0.250" spacer (part CM-11325-SP).
No. The Curt 11325 requires no drilling. It uses existing weldnuts in both frame rails.
You may need to notch the bumper fascia on the driver side. The manual states "Notch bumper fascia as needed on drivers side" during installation step 3.
You may need to trim the plastic underbody panel. The manual states you should "Trim and reattach plastic underbody panel as shown, if needed" in step 6. You will also need to remove it initially in step 1 to access the muffler heat shield.
Yes. You must remove the passenger side muffler heat shield by first removing the two rearmost muffler mounts. This allows access to the four heat shield mounting fasteners and the forward-most frame weldnut.
All 10mm fasteners must be torqued to 48 ft-lbs.
All 3/8" fasteners must be torqued to 45 ft-lbs.
1. Remove plastic underbody panel fasteners if needed. 2. Remove passenger side muffler heat shield by removing two rearmost muffler mounts, then remove four heat shield fasteners and access the forward-most frame weldnut. 3. Place rectangular spacer with 3/8" carriage bolt through tow loop and raise hitch into position over muffler heat shield(s); notch bumper fascia on driver side as needed. 4. Install 10mm fasteners into existing weldnuts in frame rails; install 3/8" conical toothed washer and 3/8" nut through hitch plate and secure to hitch. 5. Torque all 10mm fasteners to 48 ft-lbs and all 3/8" fasteners to 45 ft-lbs. 6. Trim and reattach plastic underbody panel as shown if needed.
All non-trailer loads applied to this hitch must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound.
The Curt 11325 is designed for use with ballmount #55001 or #45501.

Yes, Curt part 56049 is designed for Hyundai Elantra sedans. It is also compatible with Hyundai Sonata (excluding hybrid models) and Kia Optima. Verify your vehicle model matches one of these applications before purchasing.
No. The 56049 is designed for Hyundai Sonata models excluding hybrids. Hybrid Sonatas are not compatible with this harness.
The 56049 has two circuit ratings: Signal Circuits are rated at 3.0 amps per side, and Tail/Running Circuits are rated at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed these ratings or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower, as exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a Phillips screwdriver, a flat blade screwdriver, and a panel trim removal tool. If you need to drill a grounding point, you will also need a drill with a 3/32" bit.
The 56049 includes a custom wiring harness with yellow and green wire ends, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a black converter box, a provided screw for grounding, double-sided tape, cable ties, and a 4-flat dust cover.
No, you do not need to remove the tailgate. You only need to open it to access the rear scuff panel and trunk area where the taillight connectors are located.
The yellow wire end connects to the driver side taillight connector, and the green wire end connects to the passenger side taillight connector. Both are located behind the taillight housing inside the trunk. Insert each harness end between the separated vehicle connectors, ensuring the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Drilling is optional. You must locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable existing point is available, you may drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the provided screw. The area must be free of rust, dirt and paint before securing the white ground wire.
If you need to drill a grounding point, drill a 3/32" pilot hole. Ensure the area is free of rust, dirt and paint before installing the provided screw with the white ground wire ring terminal.
Before drilling, check for miscellaneous items that may be hidden behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury. This is especially important when drilling near the taillight area inside the trunk.
Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The box should be positioned in a convenient location that does not interfere with trunk access or storage.
When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk for connection to a trailer. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
Test for proper function by using a test light or by connecting a properly wired trailer. All steps must be followed to ensure the wiring harness functions properly before testing.
Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion. This should be done as part of the final reinstallation step after all other components are in place.
1. Open the tailgate and remove the rear scuff panel and felt trunk liner. 2. Locate and separate the vehicle taillight connectors. 3. Insert the yellow wire harness end between the driver side connectors. 4. Secure the white ground wire to a suitable grounding point. 5. Route the green wire harness end to the passenger side and repeat steps 2–3. 6. Mount the converter box with double-sided tape. 7. Route and secure the 4-flat connector and loose wires. 8. Reinstall removed items and install the dust cover.
Exceeding the product rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire. Do not exceed the Signal Circuit rating of 3.0 amps per side or the Tail/Running Circuit rating of 6.0 amps total, or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower.
Yes, care must be taken to avoid damage. When separating the vehicle taillight connectors, do not damage the locking tabs. When removing the rear scuff panel, do not damage the alignment tabs on the back. Handle all connectors carefully to ensure proper function.
