The kit includes the custom wiring harness with yellow and green wire ends, a black converter box, a white ground wire with ring terminal, a provided screw for grounding, double-sided tape for mounting the converter box, cable ties for securing loose wires, and a 4-flat dust cover.
The harness is rated for signal circuits at 3.0 amps per side and tail/running circuits at 6.0 amps total. Do not exceed the product rating or your tow vehicle's lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Exceeding the rating can cause loss of warranty, overheating and potential fire.
You will need a ratchet, 10mm socket, and a panel trim removal tool. A 3/32" drill bit is also required if you need to drill a pilot hole for the grounding screw, as a suitable existing grounding point may not be available.
Open the vehicle tailgate and remove the 10mm bolts securing the taillights. Carefully pull the taillight assembly rearward, taking care not to damage the alignment tabs on the back of the housing.
The yellow wire end connects on the driver side and the green wire end connects on the passenger side. Each harness end inserts between the separated factory taillight connectors behind the removed taillight housings. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the taillight connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" pilot hole in an area free of rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring terminal and provided screw. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under surfaces to avoid damage and personal injury.
Drilling is required only if a suitable existing grounding point is not available near the taillight connector. Locate a flat spot inside the vehicle near the taillight and adhere the black converter box using the provided double-sided tape. The converter box should be mounted in a secure location where it will not be disturbed during normal vehicle use.
When in use, route the 4-flat connector to the center of the vehicle and out of the trunk. When not in use, roll it up and store in a convenient, out-of-the-way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
