In the world of commercial towing, more is expected. A job cannot be completed if the equipment cannot handle the workload. That is why CURT developed the Commercial Duty class 5 trailer hitch. Constructed from steel and engineered for power, these class 5 hitches are designed to complement the towing power of full-size, commercial pickup trucks, including diesels and chassis cabs. They can easily handle a variety of oversize trailers, including toy and car haulers, livestock trailers, dumper trailers, large flatbed trailers, large boat trailers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). This particular class 5 hitch features a gross trailer weight capacity of 20,000 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 2,700 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Silverado 3500, 3500 HD or 3500 Classic, Dodge Ram 3500, 4500 or 5500, GMC Sierra 3500, 3500 HD or 3500 Classic and Ram 3500, 4500 or 5500 (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). All CURT Commercial Duty class 5 hitches feature a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening to accept the strongest of ball mounts and towing accessories. They are perfect for mounting standard ball mounts, pintle mounts, tow hooks and weight distribution hitches as well as winch mounts and cargo carriers. CURT class 5 tow hitches are protected by a co-curing of liquid A-coat and carbide black powder coat finish. They also mount with grade-8 hardware, included with each hitch.
If your vehicle is not equipped with wiring for towing a trailer, CURT custom wiring is the ideal solution. A custom wiring harness -- also called a T-connector -- is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that plugs into your automotive electric system and provides a standard, universal trailer wiring connection. This is done using two or more vehicle-specific, OEM-compatible connectors to plug into the taillight assembly, eliminating the need for cutting, splicing and soldering during installation. Custom wiring harnesses are made vehicle-specific, and while they are not available for all vehicles, they do offer one of the fastest, easiest and most secure ways to wire a vehicle for towing. This particular plug-in harness provides a 4-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness to fit certain years of the Chrysler Aspen and Pacifica, Dodge Dakota, Durango, Dodge Ram 2500, 1500 Van, 2500 Van, Dodge Sprinter 2500 and 3500, Jeep Commander, Grand Cherokee and Liberty and Mitsubishi Raider (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary wiring components to establish a reliable trailer wiring connection, as well as a dust cover to keep the connector clean when not in use. Yes. On all models, remove the temporary license plate bracket and return it with hardware to the owner. On select Chevrolet and GMC models, you must also remove the two rear-most fuel tank shield bolts from the frame rail and support the fuel tank shield as necessary. On Dodge models, remove the rear-most rivet on the bottom of the frame rail on each side.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill 3 holes on each side of the frame rail using a 25/32" drill bit, using the hitch as a template. On select GM models, you may need to enlarge existing holes instead of drilling new ones. The manual indicates that some GM models have an enlarged existing hole on both sides, and some Dodge and select GM models have a rivet to be removed.

Yes, on Dodge models and select GM models, you must remove the rear-most rivet on the bottom of the frame rail. On Dodge models, this is the rear-most rivet. On select GM models, the rivet is located approximately 3-1/2" from the end of the frame rails and aligns with the rear-most holes in the hitch.
All M16 hardware must be torqued to 195 ft-lbs.
Raise the hitch into position and place the rear edges of the horizontal flanges flush with the end of the frame rails, then clamp to the frame rail before drilling.
On select GM models, you have two alignment options: (a) align the 1" diameter slot with the rivet on the bottom of the frame rail on each side and clamp in place, or (b) align the rear-most rivet removed in the preparation step and the existing holes from the fuel tank shield bolts and clamp in place. The hitch side plates will slide between the frame rail and fuel tank shield.
Install M16 hex flange bolts through the holes drilled in the frame rails and out through the hitch side plates. Secure each bolt with an M16 flat washer, lock washer, and hex nut on the back side.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although the Curt 15800 is rated for 20,000 lbs trailer weight and 2,700 lbs tongue weight, your vehicle's manufacturer may specify a lower limit, which must be observed.

Insert the custom wiring harness between the separated factory 7-way connector and vehicle wiring harness. Make sure both connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Push the red locking tabs back to their original position to secure the connection.
Reinstall all items you removed during installation. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion of the connectors.
