The CURT 12245 is rated for a minimum of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 350 lbs tongue weight as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Check your Jeep Liberty owner's manual for the final towing limit.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT stabilizing straps model 18050. Do not apply non-trailer loads without these straps. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information.
You will need: 3/8" drive ratchet, 18mm 3/8" drive socket, 19mm 3/8" drive socket, and 3/8" drive torque wrench. Safety glasses are required at all times during installation.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing weld nuts in the frame rails on both sides of the vehicle.

The hitch includes 6 washers (part 30-00149, S-CON 1/2 YZ) and 6 hex head cap screws (part 10-10386, M12×1.75, 40mm, class 10.9, YZ). These fasteners are installed into existing weld nuts in the vehicle frame rails.
1. Remove the bolt from the driver's side vehicle support bracket and return it to the vehicle owner. 2. Raise the hitch into position. 3. Position the hitch over the frame and support bracket (driver side) and loosely install the supplied fasteners. 4. Torque all 12mm fasteners to 79 lb-ft. Installation is then complete.
All 12mm fasteners (hex head cap screws M12×1.75) must be torqued to 79 lb-ft. Use a 3/8" drive torque wrench to achieve this specification.
Weldnut cleaning may be required before installation. The manual does not provide detailed cleaning instructions; consult an authorized CURT installer or call technical support at 877-287-8634 for guidance.
