Yes, you must disconnect the negative battery terminal on the driver side under the hood before beginning installation. This is the first step in the installation process.
The vehicle wiring harness is located on the passenger side behind the kick panel. You will need to remove the sill plate by pulling upwards to access it. The harness connects to a 12-pin vehicle wiring connector.
Insert the custom wiring harness with relays into the vehicle 12-pin connector located behind the passenger side kick panel. Make sure the connectors are fully inserted with the locking tabs in place. Secure any loose wires with the provided cable ties.
The factory tow plug is located on the driver side along the frame rail behind the rear bumper. It will have a protective cap with locking tabs. Remove the cap carefully to avoid damaging the locking tabs.
Insert the 4-flat harness connector into the vehicle tow harness connector, making sure the locking tab is in place. The connectors should be fully seated.
Route the 4-flat harness to the center of the vehicle and secure it in a convenient out-of-the-way location using the provided cable ties. Avoid routing near sharp edges and hot exhaust areas.
